I also like red, but can't get to see one anywhere. Everywhere I went they only have Blue, Black and White. Want to see the gunmetal one and the red. Then I will decide on colour.

Honda Sandton has a red one on the floor, black one too.

Wow, that would make it somewhere in the region of $360k at current exchange rates :wtf:.

I'm sure people with enough money would still be able to get them in.
 
Initially wasn't a fan but it's grown on me. Think this looks the dog's bollocks.

Reckon I'm too old for one and my mid life crisis vehicle will be a Porsche or Harly, not a hot hatch.
I actually think this is where VW get it right. I would hazard a guess and say the people that can afford these cars are out of their 20s, maybe have a young family. The Golf R can pull off being the family car and boy racer easier than most; I'd have a hard time convincing the wife to park one of these in the garage.
And in saying that, I'm thankful there are people that aren't sensible and buy cars like this, at any age.

This is rather ridiculous. For all intents and purposes, this is a boy-racer hot hatch. Golf R manual (as I saw in today's price list in Cape Times) is R537 000 odd. Although that most probably excludes having to actually buy a proper motor plan.

Golf R auto is R555 000 odd; BMW m235i auto is R595 000 (scary how the prices have risen in the last year or so).

Who exactly will spend money on this? What "youngster" would cough almost R600k for a car that is slower than a Golf?
 
I can't fathom paying this much for a car, let alone a Honda. I cringed when I signed R280k for my brand new Executive spec Civic hatch in 2013. I'll never be able to spend more than 10% of my nett income on car installments - I'll rather pay more into my bond or sell my house and build or buy a bigger one.
