2015 Civic Type R

Is that a Golf R DSG vs Civic Type R Manual?

Sort of un fair there. Does the Golf R even come in a manual option? What does it do 0-100 if so?

Golf R tested is the DSG. Not really unfair in that sense...sense DSG model is the biggest seller.

There is a manual 'box option as well for the Golf R.

R has 4WD & CTR does not but that's Honda's choice not too. Both are direct rivals.

Sorry I meant more specifically 0-100 times the dual clutch is always going to win.

I would have liked to see manual times from the R just for a more real world comparison.

4WD probably still gives it the edge but not by much I would bet.

Also 0-160 or 0-200 or both would also be more indicative of real world speed.

0 - 160km/h is there... it's just called 0 - 100mph. :p

The Golf won the dash to 60mph by .7s, and only lost .1s by the time they reached 100mph. A manual transmission won't lose the Golf that much, and it'd take a lot of road for the Civic's lighter (non-awd) drivetrain to see it reign in the Golf's awd advantage at launch. Of course on local strips it might turn out a bit differently, as our Golf Rs produce slightly less power than the Euro spec.

All that aside, I saw my first Type R on the road a few days ago. My word, it looks so... very silly. I get the whole horses for courses thing but it just looks naff, as if someone was given a normal Civic and free reign at AutoStyle, and they bought every accessory that'd fit. :D

Focus RS is 4/5 doors; even new expected Astra OPC & Renaultsport Megane will be a 4/5 door jobbie. 3 door proper hot hatches a dying breed.

my point still remains, its very rare I come across a four door car that looks better than the two door alternative

But But we are getting the new Golof Clubsport. 200kw odd 3 door Gee Tee Haai.

I still wonder what Honda was thinking when they decided to put cloth seats at the rear. It feels and looks very cheap.

No, weight reduction isn't a valid excuse

I can confirm those cloth seats are supremely comfy and not cheap at all in the real life...

They are quoted as being some of the best in the business at the moment. Compared to some top of the range exotics.
