2015 polo vivo

Volkswagen has enhanced its best-selling Polo Vivo range with the addition of a visually striking special edition in SA, the new Storm.

The Polo Vivo has been the top selling passenger model since its market introduction in March 2010. To date, Polo Vivo (hatch and sedan body variants) has sold 217 139 units.

The special edition Storm is based on the 1.4i Trendline with 63kW hatch body variant.

The new Polo Vivo Storm retails for R187 300.

Style upgrade

The Storm gains foglights (with chromed surrounds), black metallic 15" Tosa alloy wheels, glossy black side-mirrors and black decals along its flanks. Compared to the stardard Polo, the Storm gains chromed, dual exhausts.

According to VWSA: "The dashboard has a two-tone finish in grey and ceramique. The air vents, centre console, lower parcel trays and cup holder are in a ceramique finish. The steering wheel, gear gaiter, hand brake lever are all in leather with grey stitching."

The seats have a three-tone trim design. The roof lining is coloured in anthracite. A CD/Radio with Bluetooth connectivity, SD Card, USB port and six speakers is standard.

Uitenhage - Volkswagen has revved up its top-selling Polo Vivo with a special edition called the Storm, based on the 63kW 1.4i Trendline hatch.

The maker describes it as 'visually striking' which means its special features are all cosmetic - but they are quite striking.

It has a two-tone dashboard in grey and a special finish called ceramique, which is also applied to the air vents, centre console, lower parcel trays and the cup holder, dramatically highlighted by a dark grey roofliner.

The special three-tone seat fabric also tones in, with the bolsters matching the ceramique trim, while the steering wheel, gear-lever boot and handbrake cover are trimmed in black leather with grey contrast stitching.

Standard kit includes a six-speaker radio/CD player with Bluetooth connectivity, an SD card slot and a USB port.

The Storm rolls in on 15 inch alloys finished in black metallic, with front foglights in chrome bezels, glossy black side mirrors, black 'go-fast' stripes along the sides dual chrome-tipped tailpipes.

All of which will set you back R187 300 - R7800 more than the standard 1.4i Trendline - including VAT and CO2 tax.

VW adds special edition 'Storm' to Polo Vivo range

Last week, Volkswagen South Africa introduced the Polo Beats, a new special edition for audiophiles, to local hatchback buyers. This week? The Polo Vivo Storm, priced at R187 300…

The special edition Storm derivative is based on the 1,4i Trendline hatchback (which means it employs a 63 kW/132 N.m heart), but gains a neat collection of styling upgrades.

So, what exactly do you score for the extra R7 800? Well, plenty of exterior trimmings, including front fog-lights (with chrome surrounds), 15-inch “Tosa” alloy (painted in metallic black), glossy black side-mirrors, obligatory “Storm” decals down the side and cheeky chrome-tipped dual exhaust exits.

Inside, VW SA says the dashboard features a two-tone finish (in grey and something the brand describes as “ceramique”). The air vents, centre console, lower parcel trays and cup holder also feature this mystery hue (unfortunately, no images of the cabin have been provided).

The steering wheel, gear-lever gaiter and handbrake lever, meanwhile, gain the leather treatment, as well as grey stitching. The roof lining is an anthracite colour, while the seats are apparently “three-tone”…

It looks much sportier than the standard Volkswagen Polo Vivo and features front foglights with chrome surrounds, black metallic 15-inch Tosa alloy wheels, glossy black side mirrors and black decals. Furthermore, the rear is completed with chrome-tipped double exhaust pipes. The cabin also receives a makeover and gets a two-tone dashboard, while the steering wheel, gear gaiter and hand brake lever are all in leather with grey stitching. The seats are covered in three-tone trim while the roof lining is coloured in anthracite adding to the visual appeal of the interior. Nice-to-have features include a CD/Radio with Bluetooth connectivity, SD Card, USB port and six speakers as standard.
