Honoring America's only Le Mans-winning supercar that includes wins in 2016 and the historic 1-2-3 podium sweep in 1966, the 2022 Ford GT LM Edition celebrates Ford GT's global race-winning success.

"As we close this chapter of the road-going Ford GT, the GT LM Edition gave us a chance to inject even more heart and soul from a podium-finishing racecar, furthering the tribute to our 2016 Le Mans win."

The Ford GT remains exclusive, and these final 20 special-edition supercars will add to its collectability. Deliveries of the 2022 final model-year Ford GT LM Edition begin in fall 2022 with production wrapping up later in the year.

Ford Commemorates the 2016 Le Mans-Winning Ford GT LM With New Ford GT LM Edition Ford GT

The 2022 Ford GT LM is the last and final special-edition of the Ford GT, celebrating Ford's 2016 Le Mans victory.

Ford has been working on retiring its GT supercar for a while now, with many special editions inspired by historic racing liveries. Now, according to an announcement by Ford, they’re closing down the bar and turning on the lights with this last special edition, dubbed the GT LM.

The GT LM is inspired by the 2016 Le Mans-winning Ford GT LM race car, and represents the final final edition of this generation roadgoing Ford GT. While the two-tone paint scheme is pretty subtle, some of the unique touches are anything but. For example, Ford is using 3D-printed parts, including a special dashboard plaque made from the ground-to-powder crankshaft of the third-place 2016 GT Le Mans race car. This special edition also gets a 3D-printed exhaust.

Ford GT production to end with special ultra-limited LM Edition

Just 20 LM Edition cars will be built, marking the end of production for the second-generation supercar

Ford has revealed the last ever special edition of the Ford GT, which will see out production of the current generation of the American supercar.

Called the Ford GT LM Edition, the final variant pays homage to Ford's Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance Professional (LMGTE Pro) entrants in the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours, which finished first and third.

Just 20 LM Edition cars will be built, with production starting this autumn. It marks the end of production for the second-generation GT, which first went on sale in 2017.

The GT LM Edition features Liquid Silver carbonfibre bodywork with a choice of red or blue colour schemes, inspired by the class-winning #68 GT.

Ford says the front splitter, door sills, side sills, rear splitter and door mirrors can be finished in red or blue, as can the 20in wheels, lug nuts and brake calipers.

This exclusive variant also benefits from a 3D-printed titanium dual exhaust. Inside, drivers can choose either a red or black Alcantara driver's seat, with an ebony-coloured passenger seat.

Special run of 20 GT LMs marks the end of the road for the road-going Ford GT

And just like that, it’s gone: after six years and a (revised) total of 1,350 cars, we’ve finally come to the last 20 Ford GTs, otherwise known as the ‘familiar road car badge with a race car attached to it’. Well, that’s what we know it as. Ford, predictably enough, calls it the Ford GT, but has pushed the boat out for the last run of cars, calling the final 20 the Ford GT LM. No prizes for guessing what LM stands for, either.

Yes, of course it’s Le Mans, where Ford first found the twin joys of endurance-racing success and rubbing Ferrari’s nose in the dirt, a feat it first managed in 1966, repeated through to 1969, and then did broadly the same thing again in 2016 with the current one. That is, as we said, leaving production.

So what sort of toys and trinkets do the last run of the first-placed cars receive? Apparently, your choice of any colour, as long as it’s silver (ah, so much Ford history going on in one place), with an actual choice of red or blue interior trim, taken from the livery of the Le Mans winning race car. The various bare carbon-fibre bits – splitter, sills, engine louvres and diffuser – can also proudly boast the same hues, or at least be tinted in a way that gets towards the effect.

Speaking mechanically... well, we’d probably come off sounding like robots. But if we were to discuss the unique mechanical parts of the GT LM, they’d include such riveting topics of discussion as a 3D-printed titanium exhaust, 20-inch carbon-fibre wheels and titanium lug nuts. You can almost feel the adenoids growing spontaneously.
