Not sure how the Pogba transfer messed things up in this case.
Perhaps the Martial one did, he was relatively unproven with potential, yet fetched a large fee.

Bale's fee was very similar to Pogba. Many players moved for large fees, I won't start a list.

I'm not defensive, that's why I threw in a different and more relevant example from the same team. I just think that Pogba's fee is being used out of context.

And let us not forger the Neymar court case - where it is alleged the ultimate fee was far higher.

Dominic Solanke: Liverpool set to sign 19-year-old Chelsea striker

Liverpool are set to sign striker Dominic Solanke from Chelsea.

The 19-year-old has failed to agree terms on a new contract with Champions Chelsea, and will opt to join Jurgen Klopp at Anfield instead, the Press Association reports.

The Reds have beaten off competition from a number of Premier League clubs, Celtic and RB Leipzig.

A fee will be decided by a tribunal and Solanke will initially go into Liverpool's Under-23 side.

As Solanke is over 17 and in line to sign a professional contract, the club's transfer embargo - which applies to signing academy players from other English league clubs for two years - does not apply.

Solanke made his senior debut for Chelsea at the age of 17 in 2014 but has failed to break through since and spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

It is believed negotiations over his contract at Stamford Bridge faltered over his concerns about a lack of playing time.

The highly rated forward is currently playing for England at the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea.

Paul Simpson's side face Costa Rica in the last 16 on Tuesday after a 1-0 victory over the hosts meant they finished top of their group.

why? that team sux donkey ass.
He's got Barca DNA, just look how many trophies Suarez has won since making the move there from Liverpool. Coutinho needs to be challenging for trophies, he can't afford another season at Liverpool. He must make full use of his prime years.
