• An extremely well-implemented & well-tuned CNG kit
• A CNG car with factory-backing, factory warranty & OEM standards of safety / quality
• Available in the top variant, unlike most other CNG models
• Cheap running costs that are way lesser than petrol hatchbacks
• 24% lower CO2 emissions & greener image will appeal to the environmentally-conscious
• Sorted road manners, including on the highway
• Great styling; a very chic-looking hatchback at a fair price
• Solid build & construction, unlike most of its flimsy competitors
• High quality, well-designed interiors feel nice
• City friendly nature: light controls, agreeable ergonomics & good driveability (in CNG too)
• Amazing 8-speaker Harman entertainment system
• 4-star GNCAP safety rating is praiseworthy

• No boot space at all due to the CNG tank. Get a carrier for those long journeys!
• Reduced power output is evident on the highway. CNG mode has lesser top-end performance
• Many Indian cities & towns don’t have CNG pumps. Queue for CNG can be long in metro cities
• Firmer suspension & higher tyre psi rating means you feel more of the bad roads / potholes
• 26.49 km/kg FE is noticeably lower than direct competitors like the WagonR & Celerio CNG
• Higher maintenance costs & upkeep (overall) in comparison with regular petrol variant
• AMT / AT unavailable with the CNG kit, although we expect it to be introduced in due time
• Removing & putting back the spare tyre is a tricky affair due to the CNG tank location
• Rear headroom is tight. Also, a rare Tata car that cannot seat 5 (best for 4 adults)
• Some deleted features = no alloy wheels and parking sensors
• All passengers need to get out of the vehicle while refilling CNG
• Tata's after-sales service quality is a hit or miss. Remains a gamble

Spare wheel is a 13" steel unit with a 155/80 section tyre. You cannot remove the spare wheel from the tailgate. Instead… you have to fold down the rear seat backrest and remove the spare wheel from here:

Tata Tiago EV announced; new entry-level electric car - Team-BHP​

The Tiago EV is expected to be the most affordable model in the brand’s EV line-up.

On the occasion of ‘World EV Day’, Tata Motors has announced that it plans to expand its EV portfolio to make electric cars more accessible in India.

The carmaker, in a statement, has revealed that it plans to launch 10 new electric vehicles in different product segments, body styles and affordability levels.

At present, Tata Motors offers the Tigor EV, Nexon EV Prime and the Nexon EV Max. Soon, the company will introduce its smallest EV offering, the Tiago EV.

Announcing the company’s EV plans, Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said,

"World EV Day is indeed a special day for us, as we look back and reflect on our journey so far. We are proud to lead the EV market in India, with a lion’s share of 88%. As early entrants, we have shaped the market and seen it grow with Nexon EV and Tigor EV."

"We have over 40,000 Tata EVs plying on road and we are grateful to the early adopters who have shown faith in the brand. Leveraging group synergies, we have also established Tata UniEVerse, a one of its kind EV ecosystem, which is further propelling the EV adoption."

Tata hasn’t shared any details of the Tiago EV yet. However, instead of using a standalone electric architecture, the car is likely to be based on a modified version of the Tiago platform. It also is expected to be the most affordable model in the brand’s EV line-up.

Tata's Tiago.ev starts at €11,000 with a 19.2kWh battery and 250km range

Indian automaker Tata Motor's latest announcement is the Tiago.ev - a compact city car that starts at just ₹849,000 - around €10,800, or $10,300.

For that starting price, you get a 19.2kWh battery pack, paired to a 45hp/110nm powertrain. The MIDC (Modified Indian Driving Cycle) is rated at up to 250km, though numbers from a more globally accepted cycle aren't available.


There's also a more expensive 24kWh model with a 55hp/114nm motor that's rated for up to 315km of range. This one starts at ₹999,999.

Tata doesn't want you to assume that the Tiago.ev is slow, it has a special Sports mode in which it will sprint to 60km/h in just 6.2s for the 45hp model and 5.7s with the 55hp one - no word on 0-100km/hm though.

Tata Tiago scores 10,000 preorders in a day

Tata announced in an official press release that it has secured 10,000 bookings for its latest electric car. The Tiago.ev is a small electric car that was only unveiled on September 28 with a starting price of the equivalent of $10,300 or €10,800.

The company opened the order books for Tiago.ev on Monday and by noon yesterday the 10,000 orders flew by. It is partially due to the promotional pricing but not to take away from the success, Tiago.ev is a rather clever little electric car and clearly will be very popular with the public.

To celebrate its early success, Tata is extending the promotional prices for another 10,000 customers who will need an INR 21,000 (around $255) deposit to secure their order. First test drives will be offered from late December and deliveries are scheduled to begin in January 2023.

Tiago.ev comes with two battery options - 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The smaller battery is paired with the 45hp electric motor with 110Nm of torque and quoted range of 250km. The larger battery pack comes with 55hp motor and 114Nm of torque and 315km of quoted range.

Tata's make sense in India as one can go to a corner shop and a guy with a spanner or two would be able to fix it. Of course with EV, it would be different but still.

• A stiff 4-lakh rupees more expensive than the Tiago Petrol AMT. You're paying for the tech & being an early adopter
• Needs a charging point installed at your home parking. This is not doable for many people
• ~200 km range means this is strictly a city car. No long highway runs
• Stiffer suspension than the regular Tiago means you feel more of the road. Bad roads are felt
• Power tapers off after 100 km/h; top speed of just 120 km/h
• No spare tyre, you will have to make do with a puncture repair kit. We suggest buying a spare
• Long “full tank” charging times in comparison with an ICE car. Overnight charging is best
• Some misses such as "P" mode on the shifter, alloy wheels, adjustable rear headrests, etc.
• Rear headroom is tight. Also, a rare Tata car that cannot seat 5 (best for 4 adults)
• Tata's after-sales service quality is a hit or miss. Remains a gamble
• It's a brand-new technology, so there will be issues & niggles

Tata launches E20-compliant Tiago, Punch, Altroz & Nexon - Team-BHP​

Tata Motors has launched its BS6 Phase II range of passenger vehicles, featuring RDE and E20-compliant petrol, diesel and CNG powertrains.

Tata Motors claims that the upgrades made to the engines have not only helped lower emissions but have also improved the low-end drivability of the Altroz and Punch. They also get Idle Stop Start as standard across all variants.

The Altroz and Nexon are available with upgraded Revotorq diesel engines that are said to be more responsive. Tata claims the Nexon’s 1.5-litre diesel has been retuned for better performance.

The carmaker has also been working on the Tiago and Tigor. Both cars are said to benefit from lower NVH and now come equipped with TPMS.

Furthermore, Tata Motors has increased its standard warranty from 2 years / 75,000 km to 3 years / 100,000 km.

Tata Tiago & Tigor CNG to get AMT option; bookings open - Team-BHP​

Dealerships have started accepting pre-bookings for a token amount of Rs 21,000.

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch India’s first CNG-powered cars with an automatic gearbox. The Tiago and Tigor CNG will soon be offered with an AMT option and dealerships have already started accepting pre-bookings for a token amount of Rs 21,000.

The Tiago iCNG AMT will be available in XTA, XZA+ and XZA NRG trims, while the Tigor iCNG AMT will come in XZA and XZA+ variants.

The Tiago and Tigor iCNG models are powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine that produces 72 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 95 Nm @ 3,500 rpm in CNG mode.

Currently, both models are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Customers will soon get the option of a 5-speed AMT as well.

The Tiago and Tigor iCNG feature Tata’s dual-cylinder CNG tank technology. Instead of a single large CNG cylinder that gobbles up boot space, the cars are equipped with two smaller cylinders that fit under the luggage area.
