2017/18 Transfers and Rumours

Crystal Palace's £26m bid for Mamadou Sakho accepted by Liverpool

Liverpool have agreed to sell defender Mamadou Sakho to Crystal Palace for £26m, according to Sky sources.

It is understood the 27-year-old was on his way to London on Thursday evening for a medical.

The France international was a big hit when he was loaned to the Eagles last season and they have been attempting to land him on a permanent basis throughout the summer.

Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday that Palace placed a third bid worth £22m, plus £3m in add-ons, but Liverpool remained unhappy as they valued Sakho at £30m.

With four hours left on Deadline Day, news emerged that the Reds had accepted a fee of £24m plus £2m in add-ons.

Palace have made a miserable start to the Premier League campaign under new boss Frank de Boer and are without a point in their three matches.

Sakho played a key role as they secured Premier League survival under Sam Allardyce towards the end of last season.

He joined Liverpool in 2013 for £18m after a five-year spell at Paris-Saint Germain.

Outgoing from England is still open as Spanish transfer window closes today ... Couthino saga did not end yesterday. I don't expect Liverpool to sell anyway as any ****load of money on offer coming in now would be pointless to a squad.

Liverpool signed Ox. Ox left Arsenal and snubbed Chelsea because he wants to play in the midfield. Coutinho wants to leave, he plays in Midfield. You sure Countinho won't be on his bike today with Ox being his replacement. :p:D

:crylaugh:

He did look pretty happy playing with Paulinho

Coutino made it clear that he has intentions of moving to Barcelona. That is his prerogative, but after just recently signing a 5 year deal with Liverpool earlier this year, it stinks with a label of (Traitor) to his team mates and to the club Liverpool, especially the fans!

Our midfield players to the start of the season has done pretty well without him and we had two very good results, pity for the first game, once again our defense was lacking, signing Oxlaid Chamberlain certainly gives us more options in midfield.

Coutino will make Liverpool smiling all the way to the bank when we sell him and it will be a huge amount ( Over the 130 Million pound mark ) We could get double the quality in the near future for Coutino. He doesn't want to be a part of the team which makes him no team player, whether he get's sold or not , i believe he dug a big hole for himself and his game is going to go south with his ability to be the awesome player that he is? Decisions he made for himself will tell at the end of the day, that he made and will make a mistake by leaving Liverpool. But hey, 1 man does not make a team , he is not bigger than the club. Neymar told Coutino to stay at Liverpool and not go to Barcelona, only Neymar and Coutino will know all about that conversation.

I do see Coutino being sold for a hefty amount and Liverpool can and will only Benefit, the player, I am afraid will end up like Fernando Torres - Suazrez on the other hand - he is exceptional quality, He loves Liverpool, maybe one day he will return?

How about this deal!!!!! Give us Suarez - Take Coutino and keep the change :crylaugh:

Sanchez back to Barcelona? Why is no-one making up a rumors like that.

Wow, that's awesome news. Finally everyone's business will be done before the window shuts - ours included.

Of course, there's the small matter of being able to sign players who are out of contract outside of the transfer window - which is in place at the moment.

Man Utd, Man City, Watford, Swansea and Crystal Palace voted against early transfer window closure. Burnley abstained.

This is stupid, if it was across the board for all leagues then it would make sense, now if you end up with players getting sold after the EPL's transfer window you will be unable to replace those players...

I agree if it does not apply to all leagues then it does not make sense especially with teams making signings on the last day of their own transfer window.

I suspect other leagues may catch up eventually. The EPL is the biggest league in world football, after all.

As an example, as an Arsenal fan I was sat waiting at 22:59 on 31 August not knowing whether or not our best player was going to be wearing light blue the next day. Prior to that he hadn't played as he'd picked up a "mysterious" injury, and then looked liked he'd already packed his bags in the Liverpool game. It would've left a huge hole in the team if he'd gone, and we wouldn't have been able to replace him (let's be real, we were probably never even going for Lemar in the first place). Basically, we had mediocre performances from players for a month who had their minds elsewhere when they should've been 100% focused on their jobs at their current employers. It affected our results, and our team, as other players wanted Sanchez to pack his **** and piss off already.

When the law comes into affect next season, all this crap would happen before a ball is even kicked, so it won't matter.

Yes, teams from other leagues can of course still come along at 22:59 on 31 August and pinch your prized player - but you won't ever have to play against him (a small bonus).

yeah well now the thursday before League starts you gonna be worried for the x number of days till 1 Sep if other teams going swoop in and buy your best player - however it does give your team a chance to hike up the cost of your best player by another 20-40m :D

I don't think teams are just gonna give in and sell. If they cannot replace, they won't sell, unless the offer is too good.
