Alfa Romeo recalls 60,000 Giulia, Stelvio models
Cruise control can go haywire

Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 60,000 cars and SUVs worldwide because they can keep going on cruise control or accelerate even after a driver taps the brakes.

The recall covers certain Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio models from 2017 through 2019.

The company says a software error caused the problem, and it's advising people not to use the adaptive cruise control until it's repaired.

The feature keeps moving vehicles a set distance from the cars in front of them.

Fiat Chrysler says it's not aware of any crashes or injuries from the problem.

Adaptive cruise control can still be turned off by stepping on the brakes for a longer time.

Owners will be notified next month when they can schedule an update to the brake system software.

If you believe your vehicle might be affected, you can contact your dealership or look it up by VIN at the NHTSA's recall website.

Should I buy one?

Ultimately, the interior improvements help keep the Stelvio relevant, though they don’t go far enough to make it the default choice over the equivalent Audi, BMW X3 or Mercedes GLC. All three still best it for interior presence, though the gap is nowhere near as big as it once was.

But at the same time, none of those rivals have made any major gains in terms of handling dexterity - making the Stelvio a prime choice for those in search of such involvement.

Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio gain improved interiors (and infotainment)

Alfa Romeo has made significant changes to the interiors of its Giulia and Stelvio models, showing off the updates at AutoMobility Los Angeles.

The sedan and the SUV each boast what the Italian firm describes as an “enhanced premium interior”, along with new equipment, fresh safety features and a new 8,8-inch touchscreen display.

The updated cabin incorporates a new centre console, which gains a machined-knurled aluminium-look rotary dial, upgraded knob materials and increased storage capacity. There’s also now an Italian flag badge affixed to the base of the gear-shifter, while a new phone storage area (with optional wireless charging) makes its debut. The Giulia, furthermore, gains larger cup holders.

Both the Giulia and Stelvio also score a new leather-wrapped gear-shifter and a “race-inspired” steering wheel, the latter complete with push-button start.

And that new touchscreen? Well, Alfa says it offers a selection of “interactive widgets” and a horizontal scroll layout that provides additional personalisation options and “enhanced interactivity and visibility”.

Sadly, SA is not an important market for FCA.
Someone in the Alfa club has a 4C and need a service. The service department ask is it petrol or diesel version? :confused:

maybe they trying to get their home market the US to buy their vehicles first.

Agreed, also if I am FCA, I would focus on America, China and Europe, all LHD.
so in SA and Aus, we are way at the bottom in terms of the pecking order
