2017 Audi Q5 (2nd Generation)

I've only seen 2 on the road and both were SQ5's. Interesting

Not an Android guy but I know of a number of non-tech folks who got it to work seamlessly. Just sideload the apk. Easy as that. Why the red tape here is beyond belief.

The car is fantastic.
Bear in mind that this is the smallest car I've owned in more than 20 years and I was concerned about the ride quality because of the smaller vehicle size and the influence that would have on ride quality. (My previous vehicle was a 2015 Audi S8)
The Q5 drives like a dream; is exceptionally quiet (the S8 had much more road noise) and the tech is a joy. (I ordered just about every option available in that department and would do the same if I had to order again.) Despite the exceptionally quiet cabin (I suppose the optional double glazed front side-windows contribute to this), there is no sign of any rattles or squeaks whatsoever.
Despite getting the air suspension on the Q5, the ride is not as smooth as what it was with the S8, but is still surprisingly good for a vehicle of this size. It is in any event madness to compare the ride quality Q5 with a limo-sized vehicle like the A8.
The sound system (Bang & Olufsen) is also very good.
Complaints? The SQ5 comes with sports seats, which have high ridges on the sides of the seats. These hurt my thighs on long trips. The car is going to an upholsterer today to dismantle the seats to remove the steel wiring (or whatever material is used to support the ridges) on the sides. Hopefully, that will have the effect of enlarging the flat area of the seat bottoms and prevent the side-ridges from digging into one's legs/thighs.)
Despite my concerns about size, I love the Q5. It is an extremely refined vehicle, and I would have made the same choice if I had to choose again.

Audi Q5 2.0TDI quattro (2017) Quick Review

Price tag

The base price for this 2.0TDI quattro S tronic Sport is R748 000, and that’s a lot. Tick a few boxes on the options list, like this model, has and you’re at R887 930. That’s knocking on the door of Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7 money - much bigger and even more practical cars.

Verdict

The new Q5 continues to be a top-class performer in its segment. The ride and comfort levels for passengers and driver alike are brilliant. The ride is cosseting, comfortable but too soft and you’ll struggle to find a more refined car across all surfaces. The engine and gearbox are perfectly suited to each other and turbodiesel technology has moved forward to a position where they aren’t clunky at startup and don’t have loads of lag at the bottom end.

As a product, it’s hard to find fault with the Q5 other than a lack of imaginative exterior design. Factor in the price at R750k and it’s tantalisingly close – especially after options - to the Q7. This car at R100k cheaper would have walked away with sales, but now it feels a little expensive and like you should save up for a few more months and get a Q7.

Driving along the N4, near the Simon Vermooten in Pretoria. I'm sure I just spotted an Audi RS Q5 test driving around. Had no number plates or license disc. Tried to snap a pic , blinked and he was gone.

Unless Audi slips an announcement before end of the year then this would most likely be unveiled early 2018, perhaps Detroit show in Jan.

Said to share the same drivetrain as the new RS4 & RS5. So that means the Porsche co-developed 2.9 V6 TFSI bi-turbo engine with 331 kW & 600 Nm.
