2017 Jeep Compass (2nd Generation)

Jeep Compass 80th Anniversary

The New Jeep Compass features a refreshed high-tech profile, while maintaining its distinguished urban, modern and sophisticated spirit. The first version of the New Compass to arrive in the European market will be the '80th Anniversary' special edition. Flagship of Jeep's "80th Anniversary" range, this commemorative model will be marked out by exclusive design cues, such as celebratory badges and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels. It will be available at Jeep dealerships in Europe in spring 2021.

The New Compass boasts a refreshed exterior and completely new interior, a choice of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains, as well as a suite of new technology content for a more comfortable and smarter urban driving experience. New safety systems will also enhance the on-road behavior and Jeep's renowned 4x4 capabilities.

2021 Jeep Compass refreshed with new look and updated interior

Strong-selling European SUV receives upgraded infotainment system and subtle styling tweaks

Jeep has updated its strong-selling Compass SUV in Europe, ushering in a revamped interior and new exterior design cues for 2021.

The Compass is a core model in Europe for the Stellantis-owned American brand, accounting for 40% of its sales in the region. The recently introduced 4xe variant is, Jeep says, now Italy's best-selling plug-in hybrid.

The latest round of tweaks follow a subtle update last year that included the introduction of the Compass 4xe, which offers 187bhp or 237bhp and is capable of a claimed 26-mile electric range.

The PHEV has yet to go on sale in the UK, but prices and specifications will likely be confirmed nearer to the market launch of the updated model.

The Compass remains available with a choice of engines, these being a Fiat-derived 1.3-litre turbo petrol producing 128bhp or 148bhp and a 1.6-litre diesel with 128bhp. Depending on the engine chosen, buyers can specify either a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, with either front- or four-wheel-drive.

The changes for 2021 are focused predominantly on the interior, where the Compass has gained a new 10.25in high-definition digital instrument cluster, with the infotainment touchscreen (available in either 8.4in or 10.1in forms) relocated to the middle of the dashboard for improved access.

Jeep Compass facelifted with European-minded interior and exterior design

The second-generation Jeep Compass has been given an update which includes notable revisions to the interior and exterior design. For the first time ever, a car wearing the Jeep badge was revealed in Europe to signify the brand’s dedication to this market. In Europe, the Compass accounts for more than 40 per cent of Jeeps sales. One in four of these are hybrid powered.

Said design, which boasts some cues from the all-new Grand Wagoneer, has been penned to appeal more to the European consumer by combining off-road and urban characteristics. Jeep reveals that this product aims to appeal to the “pragmatic dreamers” who are rational and factual people that have the desire to escape their daily routines.

To make it feel more elegant and modern, the Compass has been provided with a cabin update as well with a design to improve comfort and life on board and to make the urban driving experience smarter. Major highlights include the full-HD digital 10,25-inch instrument cluster, DAB radio, Uconnect 5 system with a 8,4 inch touchscreen for lower-spec units and 10,1-inch on higher-trim models. This system has been moved to the middle of the dashboard in a higher position so the driver can remain focused on the road. The processor is five times faster and includes an Android operating system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, interactive 3D TomTom navigation and natural voice recognition, and Uconnect Services.

It's Ridiculous How Much Nicer The New Jeep Compass' Interior Looks

The 2022 Jeep Compass is a cheap Jeep, but the new interior looks upscale in these photos. Much nicer than last year's cabin.

The 2022 Jeep Compass showed itself at the Chicago Auto Show on Wednesday, and while there are a bunch of subtle alterations to exterior design and content availability, the big change is the interior. Based on these new photos, it’s in a different league than the 2021 Jeep Compass’ cabin.

Jeep Compass 4xe S 2021 UK review

Should I buy one?

In all, this is a welcome return for a model that has a distinctive persona among a raft of good but samey entrants in a very busy market sector.

It’s decent to drive while plainly not being the class best. But for its cheerful, uncomplicated demeanour and excellent equipment-to-price ratio, it well deserves consideration.

Nearly new buying guide: Jeep Compass

Few SUVs have more cred than a Jeep. We point you in the right direction

The Jeep Compass had a tough task when it launched into its second generation in 2018. It was the firm’s major entry into the fiercely competitive C-segment and a rival to the popular Skoda Karoq, Vauxhall Grandland X and Renault Kadjar. Could it hold its own as a capable, spacious SUV?

Buyers clearly thought so. It has become Jeep’s most popular model in Europe, accounting for 40% of the brand’s sales. Which is good news for used buyers because it means there is a good selection of cars available on the second-hand market.

The Mk2 Compass is based on a stretched version of a platform shared with the smaller Jeep Renegade and was launched in diesel and petrol guises.
