what's the Euro NCAP safety rating on this - the current (previous?) Jeep Compass was a deathtrap at 2/5 stars

Nice interior, similar to Cherokee. I see a Trailhawk model, with adaptive cruise control and Selec-Terrain. Boot space looks improved from that rear angle. Think this will be good!

This is a complete new Compass, so I'm sure it will have 5 stars, like the new Renegade and Cherokee.

"Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has released three images of the new Jeep Compass ahead of its US debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this year.

The automaker unveiled the new model – which draws plenty of styling inspiration from the Grand Cherokee – in Brazil as production kicked off at the new Jeep assembly plant in Goiana, Pernambuco. The new model is slated to replace both the outgoing Compass (which has effectively already been removed from the SA market) and the Patriot.

Jeep promises that the new Compass will be produced with as many as 17 powertrain options for consumers in more than 100 countries around the world.

The brand claims that the new model will boast “best-in-class 4×4 off-road capability” and “superior on-road driving dynamics”. It also says “open-air freedom” will be on offer.

The new Compass is set to go on sale in North America in the first quarter of 2017, with more information (and images) to be revealed in Los Angeles in November. It has yet to be confirmed for South African introduction."

You are repeating yourself Fiesta... They all posted the same press release. You're making me look at things I have already seen. It is messing with my productivity.

New Jeep Compass boasts three transmission options

The Jeep Compass is back, and it boasts a fresh design as well as an array of powertrain combinations – 17 to be exact.

On display at the Los Angeles Auto Show, options on the new Compass include four trim levels, two 4×4 systems and three transmissions.

The global engine line-up comprises three petrol and two diesel mills, although this list depends on the market. For instance, consumers in the US will have access to just one engine: the 134 kW 2,4-litre four-cylinder Tigershark.

The three transmission options include a nine-speed ZF automatic for 4×4 models, a six-speed automatic for 4x2s and a six-speed manual for either.

Interior options also seem diverse. The uConnect infotainment system found in all modern FCA cars can be displayed on a choice of three different screens: 5,0- 7,0- and 8,4-inches. The driving information display is also available in two sizes.

The new Compass will be manufactured in Brazil, Mexico, China and India, and will be sold in 100 different countries. It has yet to be confirmed for South African introduction.

2017 Jeep Compass will be one of the first Jeeps to come w/ Apple’s CarPlay

The 2017 Jeep Compass unveiled this week will be one of the first new Jeep models to add Apple CarPlay stock via the latest in-dash entertainment platform from Fiat Chrysler dubbed Uconnect 4.0.

Available with an option of 5.0-, 7.0- or 8.4-inch touch screens, the CarPlay enabled Uconnect 4.0 platform was already enabled on the new Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger models as of September. But this is appears to be one of the first Jeep models that will get the option stock when it goes on sale in the coming weeks. The 2017 Compass is expected to be available early next year.

While Apple first added Jeep alongside sister companies Chrysler, Dodge, and Fiat back in 2014 to its list of companies planning to support CarPlay, it is yet to actually add a Jeep model with CarPlay to its list of supported vehicles. So far Apple hasn’t updated its list of vehicles that come with CarPlay to add the 2017 Jeep Compass.

Here’s a look at the new platform from back in September when it debuted on the first Chrysler and Dodge models:

Earlier this year after market accessory maker Alpine started selling a CarPlay display that can be installed in some Jeep models.
