The very minor facelift of the current 3

"The 2017 Mazda 3, known as Mazda Axela in the home market, went on sale in Japan with a number of new features.

Like with all new-generation Mazdas, the carmaker developed the latest version of the 2017 Mazda 3 based on a human-centred development philosophy, paying close attention to human traits and perceptions to deliver a satisfying sensation to drivers and passengers alike. The sporty compact also received an extra portion of Jinba Ittai, Mazda's rider-and-horse-as-one approach that originated as the guiding principle behind the iconic Mazda MX-5 roadster.

The 2017 Mazda 3 marks the world debut of G-Vectoring Control (GVC). It's first system in the new SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS range of technology providing integrated control of the engine, transmission, chassis and body to enhance the Jinba-Ittai factor. GVC varies engine torque to optimise the load on each wheel, providing more precise handling as well as a smoother ride under virtually any driving conditions. Diesel-powered versions of Mazda's newest compact get high-precision boost control, which enhances accelerator responsiveness. It also comes with one new diesel knock reduction innovation (Natural Sound Frequency Control) to dampen the vibrations that cause knocking in three critical frequency ranges, while extending another related technology (Natural Sound Smoother) to all diesel models.

Inside, the 2017 Mazda 3 adds usability and practicality with, for example, an enhanced Active Driving Display featuring a high quality full-colour display. It eases communicating information to drivers without any need for them to take their eyes off the road. Among other things, Mazda has also improved steering wheel ergonomics. Outside, the award-winning hatchback and fastback designs feature a solid, low stance with a strong, composed physique.

Advanced active and pre-crash safety equipment includes Advanced Smart City Brake Support (Advanced SCBS). Its forward-sensing camera replaces the current system's laser, expanding the speed range for detecting other vehicles while adding pedestrian detection capabilities. The 2017 Mazda 3 will also be offered with Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH), including glare-free high beams delivering superior night-time visibility without blinding other motorists as well as wide-range low beams and an automatic levelling feature.

The 2017 Mazda 3 is slated to arrive in Europe starting late 2016. The powertrain line-up will continue to feature three SKYACTIV-G petrol engines - the SKYACTIV-G 1.5 (100 PS) and two SKYACTIV-G 2.0s (120 PS & 165 PS) - as well as two clean diesels, the SKYACTIV-D 1.5 (105 PS) and SKYACTIV-D 2.2 (150 PS). They are mated to a crisp shifting six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual or SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission."

Mazda's really producing good looking cars across the board these days, pity they've also brought their prices up to German standards now that everything else is at that level ...

We never got the 1.5 Skyactiv's instead we got the old 1.6 MZR from last gen. They better bring the 1.5 Skyactiv or their sales will stay flat, if i'm not mistaken they're selling Mazda 2's CX-3 & CX-5's but the 3's aren't moving. That's because no one wants the old junk and the 2L which is very very nice is just too expensive in the segment.

Still a very decent looking vehicle.

Anyone here got one? Experiences?
Test drove one the 2L Astina would have bought it on the spot but the same money got me a CX-5 or 6.... So you know I traded up and got the CX

It is so very refined, handles great and the interior will make you miss it if you have to spend a day in anything else.

Agreed...Mazda needs to up their game with the hot hatch squad....its proper huge money these days + bragging rights (dick measuring).
I honestly think they're over it... they made a 191kw fire spitting beast for cheap cheap and everyone was just like... hmm not a GTI meh.

Very nice. :)

I'm actually looking at the CX-5 for my next car.

What're the specs on yours? Mind expanding a bit on your experiences with it, including negative stuff?

Have the Dynamic. Definitely the best handling SUV i've ever driven handles like a hatchback. Interior is great I honestly have no negatives maybe at a stretch it doesn't have Android Auto but no other competitor has it either.

Oh the fuel consumption for an SUV is incredible 8.2l/100

South African model, which will remain unchanged in terms of line-up.

If that means the 1.6 stays they don't have one brain cell between them at Mazda SA
