2017 Peugeot 3008 (2nd Generation)

1 millionth Peugeot 3008 rolls off the production line

Since its launch in 2017, the Peugeot 3008 has received no less than seventy-six awards globally. It is one of the segment leaders in markets throughout Europe, accounting for 65 per cent of the vehicle’s global sales, and was awarded the 2017 European Car of the Year award.

Blending excellent perceived quality, tactile interior materials and technology such as the latest driving aids and high-definition displays in the cockpit, the Peugeot 3008 is able to punch well above its weight. As such, 38 per cent of sales are in higher segments, illustrating the upmarket positioning of the Peugeot brand and their products.

Such accolades and impressive sales figures come as no surprise when one considers the 3008’s striking looks, punchy motors and remarkable interior quality. And so, 5 years on and shortly after we have been graced with the updated model here in South Africa, Peugeot has announced that the 1 000 000th 3008 has just rolled off the production line at the Sochaux factory in Eastern France.

Nearly new buying guide: Peugeot 3008

With crossover practicality and supermini frugality, this is a top choice

Fancy a family-size SUV that has a handsome exterior and a stylish and practical interior, drives as well as it looks and is superb value for money used? If so, the Peugeot 3008 might be right up your street.

The engines range from a turbo triple petrol up through a number of efficient diesels to an efficient petrol-electric plug-in hybrid with a stonking output.

Even the basic Active model is well equipped, with dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, Bluetooth and a DAB radio. It doesn’t come with satnav, but it has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can just use a navigation app on your smartphone instead.

Peugeot 3008 review

WHAT'S THE VERDICT?

“Tangibly more practical and interesting than a 308, this is SUVs done properly”

Crossovers, SUVs, whatever you want to call them… we have trouble recommending them, by and large. No matter how sweet to drive (Ford Puma) or relentlessly practical (Nissan Qashqai), they rarely offer much over the hatchback they’re based upon, short of a taller driving position.

The 3008 makes its extra size and height feel genuinely useful though, and with its surprisingly low kerb weight and lithe handling, it’s not hamstrung by its additional heft over a Peugeot 308. As a significantly newer fangled car, it offers so much more than a 308, in fact; its interior and wealth of tech are particular highlights. Facelifted versions are decidedly handsome too.

We’ve long since admitted defeat to these things. People like SUVs, and people buy SUVs. In vast numbers. If you intend on adding another to the roads, look here before anywhere else. The Peugeot 3008 is one of the very best.

Hybrid Peugeot 5008 to complete electrified model range

New model is the last car in Peugeot's range to get a hybrid powertrain and will join its line-up in 2023

The Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 crossovers will gain new hybrid engines from the start of next year, meaning every car in the firm’s line-up will be sold with an electrified powertrain.

Each model will receive a 134bhp petrol engine, a new electrified dual-clutch gearbox and a 48V battery that is recharged when driving.

Peugeot says the powertrain enables a 15% reduction in fuel consumption while offering additional torque, although electric-only range is limited to distances below 1km (0.62 miles).

The 5008, Peugeot’s largest car, will be the final model in the French car maker’s range to be electrified. All other models, including the 3008, are already available with a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric powertrain.

The completion of Peugeot’s hybrid model range will meet its target of offering every model with an electrified powertrain by the first half of 2023.

The firm also claims its hybrid model range means it will have the widest “e-choice” in Europe, ahead of its plan to offer electric-only (BEV) vehicles by 2030.

The next Peugeot 3008 will be an electric car inspired by the radical Inception concept

And we'll see the 'Hypersquare' steer-by-wire system in action by 2026

Following the reveal of Peugeot's radical Inception concept car, we've been asking the firm's global marketing chief Phil York what it actually means for the cars he'll be selling. A lot, he says.

As soon as 2024, Peugeot will make use of the Stellantis Group's 'medium' electric platform, with single or twin motor installation and a range of battery sizes from 87kWh and up.

So which is the car that will use this platform and make the switch to full-electric-only? York won't say. I put it to him that the firm's oldest car is the 3008 and so that's the next one to be replaced, and it'll be at the end of its eight-year lifecycle in 2024. "You can do the maths," he smiles, pointedly not contradicting our simple deduction.

The Inception doesn't actually use that 'medium' platform, but the 'large' one, which has 800V tech, and almost 500 miles of range. But York tells me the first car, that is the new 3008, will use the medium one, which runs at 400V. Even so, the target is class-leading charge speed.

New Peugeot e-3008 due in 2023 with 4WD and 435-mile range

Completely redesigned crossover will use new platform and shun SUV design cues; larger e-5008 to follow

The next-generation Peugeot 3008 will be revealed this year with pure-electric power and a totally new look modelled on the brand's radical Inception concept.

Confirmed for an unveiling in the second half of 2023, the new Peugeot e-3008 will be the first car from the brand to sit atop parent company Stellantis's new STLA Medium architecture, which promises a step-change in terms of performance and functionality compared to the legacy PSA Group platforms currently used by Peugeot EVs.

Peugeot said the e-3008 will offer a choice of three powertrains, including a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive option – a first for the brand.

It has also promised a range of up to 435 miles from the variant with the largest battery.

An electric version of the larger Peugeot 5008 will follow atop the same platform and likely with the same array of powertrains and batteries.

Peugeot Inception to influence all-new Peugeot e-3008 due this year

Peugeot is taking a bold new path and its Inception concept EV will play a much larger role than any concept car before it. The company will redesign its entire lineup of cars to incorporate the new design language and these are not some tweaks - Peugeot claims it is reinventing the conventional car silhouettes.

Peugeot previewed today 7 new cars that it plans to introduce by 2030 - all of them electric. On top of that, all current models will get an electrified version this year and by 2030 only electric cars will be on sale.

The seven new electric cars previewed today are the successors to the ever popular hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs from the French automaker, but they look nothing like their current counterparts. All cars will feature the new signature lights, the wide stance and long wheelbase. All, even the SUVs, seem to be quite low to the ground emphasising the new and very attractive design.

The first new electric cars with the lion badge coming to the market are the E-308 and E-308 SW to be released this year. They will be followed by the E-408, E-3008 and E-5008 and then two more models will be released before the end of 2025.

Peugeot starts teasing the upcoming 3008 EV's "panoramic i-Cockpit"

Peugeot is working on the next 3008, which will be "an all-new electric fastback SUV". It will be revealed in September, and today the company has started the teaser campaign for the upcoming model.

The first teaser images we get are all of the interior, which Peugeot calls "panoramic i-Cockpit", a design concept that demonstrates "the metamorphosis of the new 3008", which will take "design creativity, driving pleasure and electric performance to a whole new level", whatever that means.

So, on the inside there's an "impressive" 21-inch high-definition curved "panoramic" screen "floating above the dashboard", a new compact steering wheel, and "i-Toggles". The single screen extends from the left-hand end of the dashboard all the way to the center console, and it's attached by a rear foot that's invisible to the passengers - hence the floating look.

New 2024 Peugeot e-3008 to be revealed on 12 September

Completely redesigned crossover will use new platform and shun SUV design cues; larger e-5008 to follow

The new Peugeot e-3008 will be revealed on 12 September, arriving with pure-electric power and a totally new look modelled on the brand's radical Inception concept.

With images unveiled of a heavily camouflaged car shown on the brand's social media, the 3008 will be the first model in the Peugeot line-up to feature a newly updated i-Cockpit infotainment system.

The new system, which will eventually roll out onto the majority of the Peugeot model range, features a 21in, curved, panoramic display, which stretches from behind the steering wheel to the centre of the dashboard.

Peugeot teases the E-3008 ahead of its September 12 debut

Peugeot has dropped a teaser of their soon-to-debut E-3008, and it's stirring curiosity all over. Scheduled for its grand appearance on September 12, the E-3008 is deliberately avoiding the ongoing Munich Motor Show. A strategic move or simply a bid for exclusivity? Only Peugeot knows.

The teaser video splashed across social media feeds gives car enthusiasts a taste of what's to come. And by the looks of it, Peugeot isn’t holding back on style. The E-3008's exterior doesn't shy away from making a statement. The sleek coupe-SUV shape paired with LED headlights and daytime running lights promises a visual treat. The black front grille, interspersed with blue touches and the latest Peugeot emblem, adds to its distinct character.

Spy shots of the E-3008 prototypes have further fueled speculations. A spoiler extending from the roof and LED taillights hint at the vehicle's balance between sporty and sophisticated. And let's talk about the interior - because Peugeot surely did back in June.

Remember the days when a car's dashboard was just, well, a dashboard? The E-3008 takes it a notch higher with a whopping 21-inch curved display. This isn't just any display. It combines the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen. Add to that a head-up display and another screen controlling media and climate. And no, Peugeot hasn’t forgotten about the tiny but important touches - the small steering wheel (a signature of sorts), two cupholders, a wireless charging pad, and even a scroll wheel for media volume. What's more, the ambient lighting system promises an in-cabin experience quite unlike any other.

First pics: Peugeot’s striking new E-3008 ushers in new look, fresh platform

Peugeot has come up with some eye-catching designs in the past few years and the new E-3008 is arguably the most striking of them all.

The French brand has released the first images of its new all-electric “fastback SUV” ahead of its full global reveal on September 12.

While the technical details have not been released as yet, it is widely reported that the new battery powered crossover will be the first Stellantis vehicle to be underpinned by the company’s new STLA Medium platform that was announced earlier this year.

The carmaker’s photo drop also reveals a futuristic looking cockpit design that’s destined to find its way into Peugeot models in the future.

It includes a new curved display on the top of the dashboard, and while traditional buttons and controls are kept to a minimum, Peugeot has added short cuts for commonly used functions like climate, navigation and phone, onto a small touch pad below the central air vents.

Peugeot E-3008 previewed ahead of next week's premiere

Peugeot's latest electric offering, the E-3008, is set for a September 12 debut and Peugeot is now turning up its marketing machine to 11 with yet another teaser, for the first time showing us the complete vehicle.

The E-3008 brings a polished coupe-SUV silhouette with LED headlights and daytime running lights that is hard to overlook. To complement this, the black grille accented with blue and adorned with the latest Peugeot emblem fit pretty well.

The spoiler streaming from its roof, paired with LED taillights, strikes a harmonious chord between sporty flair and elegance. One has to wonder if the company will finally add a different powertrain option, because 136hp don't really allow for much sportiness in your driving.

Peugeot e-3008 pairs bold redesign with 435-mile range

Restyled coupe SUV uses new EV-focused platform and offers 316bhp range-topper

This is the all-new Peugeot e-3008, the French brand’s first model based on a radical new Stellantis architecture that will underpin up to two million cars per year.

Building on the huge success of today’s second-generation 3008, which made a switch in bodystyle from the first generation, the new e-3008 takes on a bold fastback design inspired by the recent Peugeot 408.

The e-3008 is one of five new Peugeot EVs that will be launched between now and the end of 2024. It will be joined by new electric versions of the 308 and 308 SW, an electric 408 and an all-new e-5008.

The new 5008 will be moved further away in style and purpose from the current model to provide greater distance to the e-3008.

The larger car will put greater focus on its spacious family credentials, and the e-3008 will be Peugeot’s more stylish and dynamic offering in the C-segment crossover class. The e-3008 “is the start of our C-segment offensive”, Peugeot product boss Jérôme Micheron told Autocar.
