2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast

Ferrari 812 Special Edition

The first official images of Ferrari's latest limited-edition special series have been published in the build-up to its world première, which will be broadcast live on the Maranello marque's social media channels on May 5.

The new model is the ultimate expression of Ferrari's concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta, honing the characteristics of the critically-acclaimed 812 Superfast to a level never seen before. The result is a car that encapsulates and epitomises the company's 70-plus years of experience on the world's circuits, drawing on its thoroughbred sports car DNA to deliver a perfect marriage of performance, form, and function. Aimed at Ferrari's most passionate collectors and connoisseurs, it features numerous uncompromising engineering solutions to guarantee peerless driving pleasure.

As is the case with all Ferrari's cars, the most striking feature lies at its very heart: in this instance the latest evolution of Maranello's legendary 65° V12 engine, which reaches the highest output of any Ferrari road-car engine - 830 cv - and revs to 9,500 rpm, again the highest of any Ferrari ICE. The use of state-of-the-art materials, the redesign of many of the engine's key components, a new valve timing mechanism and a new exhaust system are just some of the technical solutions that allow the most noble of Ferrari engines to deliver performance levels that are unprecedented in the V12 segment.

The pure yet brutal power unleashed by the powertrain is paired with class-leading vehicle dynamics controls to ensure that the performance can be fully exploited and to guarantee maximum fun behind the wheel. Most distinctive of these solutions is the adoption of independent steering on all four wheels. This extends the feeling of agility and precision when cornering as well as providing unparalleled responsiveness to steering inputs. Another noteworthy engineering achievement is the development work undertaken to reduce the car's overall weight compared to the 812 Superfast. This was achieved in particular by extensive use of carbon fibre, both on the exterior and in the cockpit. Lastly, the new model premieres version 7.0 of the renowned Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system.

Ferrari 812 Superfast gets special edition with 819bhp V12

Exclusive new supercar variant features highest-revving and most powerful V12 to leave Maranello

A new special edition of the Ferrari 812 Superfast will feature the most powerful combustion engine of any road car from Maranello.

Described as "the ultimate expression of Ferrari's concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta," the as-yet-unnamed variant brings a raft of visual, mechanical and dynamic upgrades over the standard car, itself beaten in terms of outright potency by only the LaFerrari and SF90 Stradale hybrid supercars.

Power output from the front-mounted V12 has been raised from 789bhp to 819bhp, which is slightly more than the figure produced by Lamborghini's new electrically assisted top-rung hypercar, the Sián FKP 37.

It's not yet clear whether the V12 remains a 6.5-litre unit, but Ferrari has confirmed some of the modifications made to boost power. As well as redesigning "many of the engine's key components," the firm has installed a new valve-timing mechanism and a new exhaust system.

Among the details released at this early stage, Ferrari has also confirmed that the rev limit is up from 8900rpm to 9500rpm - making this its highest-revving production engine to date and among the quickest-spinning road-going V12s ever made.

Limited edition Ferrari 812 Superfast revealed with 9 500 r/min limit!

A limited edition Ferrari 812 Superfast has been revealed with a reworked engine to bring out more potential in terms of performance. Information on this new limited model is not conclusive so the specs we have right now are limited to what the Italian manufacturer has revealed.

For starters, the limited edition Ferrari 812 Superfast uses the F140 GA naturally aspirated 6,5-litre V12 but instead of delivering 588 kW, it’s been cranked up to 610 kW. Adding to this drama is its rev limit which has been increased to 9 500 r/min.

This new model is claimed to be the ultimate expression of Ferrari’s concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta by honing the characteristics of the critically-acclaimed 812 Superfast to a level never seen before. The new model is aimed at Ferrari’s most passionate collectors and connoisseurs and features numerous uncompromising engineering solutions to guarantee peerless driving pleasure.

Together with the increase in power, this limited edition Ferrari 812 Superfast adopts independent steering on all four wheels to extend agility and precision through the corners. Reducing mass, the car also adopts an extensive use of carbon fibre throughout the construction. All-new on this special model is a version 7,0 of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control vehicle dynamics system.

Special edition Ferrari 812 Superfast: full reveal on 5 May

Exclusive new supercar variant features highest-revving and most powerful V12 to leave Maranello

A new special edition of the Ferrari 812 Superfast will feature the most powerful combustion engine of any road car from Maranello.

Due to be fully revealed and detailed on 5 May, it is described as "the ultimate expression of Ferrari's concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta. The as-yet-unnamed variant brings a raft of visual, mechanical and dynamic upgrades over the standard car, itself beaten in terms of outright potency by only the LaFerrari and SF90 Stradale hybrid supercars.

That should be enough to reduce the 812 Superfast's 0-62mph time from 2.9sec to nearer 2.5sec and push top speed above the standard car's 211mph. So far, Ferrari has confirmed no official performance figures, but it has promised that the engine will deliver "pure but brutal power".

New Ferrari 812 Competizione: 819bhp special gets open-top option

Full details of exclusive new supercar variant, which brings Maranello's highest-revving and most powerful V12 yet

The hardcore new Competizione edition of the Ferrari 812 Superfast features the most powerful combustion engine of any road car from Maranello.

Detailed last month but revealed in full today, it is described as "the ultimate expression of Ferrari's concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta. It brings a raft of visual, mechanical and dynamic upgrades over the standard car, itself beaten in terms of outright potency by only the LaFerrari and SF90 Stradale hybrid supercars.

It has also been confirmed today the the limited-run supercar will be offered in targa-topped 'Competizione A' guise - based on the open-roof GTS version of the standard 812. All 999 versions of the hardtop version have been sold already, with prices starting from €499,000 (£430,000) in Italy, as have the 599 examples of the more exclusive Aperta, which is priced from €578,000 (£499,000).

Chief among the upgrades is a substantial power hike from the front-mounted V12, which has been boosted from 789bhp to 819bhp, slightly more than the figure produced by Lamborghini's new electrically assisted top-rung hypercar, the Sián FKP 37.

Most notably, the rev limit is up from 8900rpm to 9500rpm - making this Ferrari's highest-revving production engine to date and among the quickest-spinning road-going V12s ever made. This was achieved through a redesign of several key bottom-end elements.

This is the Ferrari 812 Competizione and Competizione A

For when a Superfast isn’t super or fast enough, you need a limited series 819bhp V12

In dramatising the regal, Shakespeare hath no equal. And yet, despite giving new language to love and loss and delivering some of literature’s greatest ever one-liners, we suspect even the big man would have struggled to describe the noise this Ferrari V12 will likely make at full chat.

If all the world’s a stage, then, allow us to present one of its loudest players. This is the Ferrari 812 Competizione and its open-topped sibling, the Ferrari 812 Competizione A. Cry 9,500rpm, and let slip the V12, he probably wouldn’t have written.

The 812 Competizione is, rather unsurprisingly, a version of the 812 Superfast; a sort of alternate-reality Superfast where everything has been turned up to 11. And as with any self-respecting Ferrari, we venture once more unto the breach of that mesmerising V12.

It’s still a 6.5-litre, only for this Competizione application Ferrari has redesigned the pistons, fitted titanium con-rods (that are 40 per cent lighter), layered a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on the piston pins and rebalanced the crank (itself a whopping three per cent lighter than before). There are new cylinder heads, F1-tech for the cams (coated in DLC), a redesigned intake system (across manifold and plenum) and variable geometry inlet tracts.

Bottom line: 819bhp (more power), 513lb ft (slightly less torque), and “an engine that revs with tremendous speed all the way to the cut off with no drop off towards the red line”. A red line that now sits higher, at 9,500rpm. This isn’t an engine, it’s a five-act drama.

It’s matched to the same seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that sits in the regular Superfast, calibrated here to shift five per cent faster. We’d give you ‘cold hard’ numbers but 0-62mph in 2.85s, 0-124mph in 7.7s and a top speed of over 211mph isn’t cold. It’s just Superf- well, you get the idea.

Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta breaks cover as 610 kW targa supercar

The Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta has been unveiled as a variant of the limited edition super GT that was revealed last month. The only difference between the two is the roof of this 610 kW supercar can be removed.

The Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta is the newest Aperta model from the Italian manufacturer’s stable and joins its super GT counterpart as a pair of exclusive limited edition products. It too, uses the brand’s naturally 6,5-litre V12 which can rev to 9 500 r/min. With this engine, it delivers 610 kW and 692 N.m of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This particular gearbox has been recalibrated to reduce shift times by five per cent.

With this in place and a kerb mass of 1 487 kg, the Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta sprints from 0-100 km/h in 2,85 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 7,5 seconds until it reaches its top speed of 340 km/h.

Considering open-top cars are usually heavier than their hard-top counterparts, Ferrari took measures to ensure that the roof weighs as little as possible. In order to achieve this, the designers have opted for a manually removable carbon fibre top that can be easily stored in the boot without compromising luggage space too much.

The Ferrari 812 Competizione and Aperta have sold out

Ferrari confirms the model you’ve just heard about has already gone

Ferrari will build just 999 examples of the wild new 812 Competizione, and even fewer of its sister car, the Competizione ‘Aperta’ – just 599 of those will be built.

And, to literally nobody’s surprise, both models have sold out. So, welcome to the two new supernaturally powerful, naturally-aspirated V12 Ferraris you can’t actually buy.

“We contacted our clients before, giving them the right of first refusal,” explains Ferrari’s chief marketing and commercial officer Enrico Galliera, “and of course the reaction has been incredible.

“Many clients are asking for the car, but unfortunately we cannot satisfy all the requests,” he added. He did note the price: €499,000 (in Italy) for the 812 Competizione, and €578,000 for the 812 Competizione Aperta.

Deliveries of the coupe will commence in the first quarter of 2022, with Aperta deliveries beginning later in the year, in Q4. “It’s a special edition of the 812, but it’s also limited,” Galliera added on why both cars are ‘limited series’.

Widebody Novitec N-Largo Ferrari 812 GtS Revealed With Eargasmic Exhaust

The Novitec N-Largo range keeps growing and now includes the drop-top V12 from Ferrari we know as the 812 GTS.

Since the tuning firm already N-Largo’d the 812 Superfast, it only made sense to give the open-top owners a similar opportunity.

Just 18 kits will be made worldwide and as usual, they are made from carbon fibre. The front end grows by 7cm while the rear grows but a substantial 14 cm in width.

Naked carbon rocker panels channel airflow and the front and rear facias both receive a complete re-design. Mirror mouldings, a rear spoiler and a rear diffuser complete the look.

Since the wheel wheels have grown so should the wheels so you can now fit a set of Novitec NF 10 NL forged wheels either in 21 or 22-inch sizes.

Ferrari 812 GTS N-Largo by Novitec revealed with 610 kW tune-up

The Ferrari 812 GTS N-Largo by Novitec breaks cover as the next flagship custom Italian supercar to be enhanced by the German tuning firm. Included in this package is a dramatic visual upgrade, increase in power and revisions to the suspension.

The carbon fibre body applied to the Ferrari 812 GTS N-Largo was developed in a wind tunnel and widens the sides by 139 mm. Further enhancing the visuals are multiple inserts applied to the air inlets and outlets on the bonnet as well as air-guides on the sidewall and a door mirror cover set. The visual stance is enhanced by set of 21-inchfront and 22-inch rear NF10 ZV forged alloy wheels and a sports spring set with hydraulic adjustments that can raise the front axle by 40 mm when needed.

At the helm of the Ferrari 812 GTS N-Largo sits the firm’s naturally aspirated 6,5-litre V12 that delivers 588 kW and 719 N.m of torque in its standard state. Using a custom ECU software, Novitec has pushed this figure up to 610 kW and 751 N.m which grants it a 0-100 km/h time of 2,8 seconds and a top speed of 345 km/h.
