@FiestaST, it doesn't look like you've created a post for the new Audi A3?

New Audi A3 Spied In Traffic Looking Production-Ready

Despite the camo, it's pretty clear the new Sportback will feature Audi's fresh design language.

The fanciest compact hatchback from the Volkswagen Group is getting ready to make the transition to the fourth generation. Riding on updated MQB underpinnings, it will join the revamped VW Golf, SEAT Leon, and Skoda Octavia – which are all due around 2020. Looking at these new spy images, it seems the Audi A3 will be out first as the prototype appears just about ready to drop the disguise and reveal its production-ready bodywork.

While the styling won’t represent a significant departure from the current A3 Sportback, the test vehicle does have completely new headlights similar to those of the heavily related 2019 Q3 crossover. The taillights are also sharper than those of the outgoing A3 and have interesting graphics, although the camo gets in the way and we can’t see everything.

As with previous spy shots of the regular A3 and the hotter S3, we’re dealing with a five-door version of the compact hatch, which fuels rumors about Audi’s decision to drop the three-door model due to decreasing demand. There’s not much to say about the side profile since it looks awfully familiar, but there could be some subtle tweaks to the character lines to give the new model a fresh look only Audi fans will notice.

Since the current trend is to make cars bigger and bigger, we won’t be too surprised if the new A3 will grow in size. Better packaging brought by the updated MQB platform could free up more space inside the cabin, with a minor stretch of the wheelbase likely on the agenda. Considering the A1 Sportback is now 5.6 centimeters (2.2 inches) longer than its predecessor, Audi certainly doesn’t want the supermini to step on the A3’s toes.

These next-gen compact hatchbacks from VAG are expected to feature updated versions of the familiar three- and four-cylinder engines, plus a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The much-criticized diesel engine isn’t going anywhere, so you’ll still be able to get a TDI-powered A3, Leon, Golf, and Octavia in Europe.

Audi hasn’t said when it will unveil the next-gen A3, but we could see it as early as March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show or in September during the Frankfurt event.

2020 Audi A3 Sportback Spied Together With S3 Hot Hatch

A somewhat rare opportunity to see an Audi riding on steel wheels.

Audi recently revised the A3 Sportback in Europe by updating the thrifty G-Tron version, but we’re more interested in seeing the next generation of the premium compact hatch from Ingolstadt. Arriving later this year in five-door form to take on the all-new BMW 1 Series, the overhauled A3 has been spotted undergoing testing alongside a bunch of other prototypes carrying the Four Rings.

Still heavily disguised and riding on steel wheels, the new A3 was joined by a couple of prototypes of the S3 judging by the quad exhaust system. The hot hatches had larger alloy wheels and were sitting closer to the road thanks to the stiffer sports suspension, with all of them featuring a grille-mounted LED light bar used only during the testing phase.

In typical VAG fashion, the styling is more of the same, but the next-gen A3 Sportback does seem to have those sleek new headlights and taillights inherited from recent models. Knowing Audi and its appetite for evolutionary designs, we believe the exterior styling will strongly resemble our speculative render published at the beginning of the year.

While the exterior won’t stray away too far from the current car, chances are the interior will be overhauled to accommodate the company’s latest MMI. Hopefully, the tablet-styled display will be replaced by a neatly integrated screen as seen in the new Q3. Our wishes will actually be granted as an older spy shot (attached above, on the right) of the S3 did, in fact, show the MMI built into the dashboard. It remains to be seen whether the HVAC controls will remain traditional knobs and dials or these will be replaced by a secondary touchscreen like in the bigger Audis.

2019 will be a busy year for the Volkswagen Group as far as compact cars as aside from the A3, we’re also going to see the new Skoda Octavia, VW Golf and quite possibly the SEAT Leon as well. The Frankfurt Motor Show in September seems like the perfect venue for Audi to host the world premiere of its new A3 Sportback, with the sedan to follow shortly.

Spy Shots: Audi A3

The next-generation of Audi A3 has been spotted testing in the Alps.

What you see is the next-generation Audi A3, carefully camouflaged. Our spy photographers tell us that the A3 prototypes were in the Alps mountain range undergoing brake testing on the technical and twisty sections of road. Anyone who has driven extensively in a mountainous are knows how much the brakes get worked when you're trying to keep the car in control on a downhill.

Looks the same as the first gen I drove.

Miss the car. Never gave me issues but worthless when they get old

2020 Audi S3: hot saloon variant spotted ahead of A3's reveal

Audi's new generation A3 will appear at September's Frankfurt motor show, with 300bhp+ S3 to follow soon after

Audi's next-gen S3 has been caught testing in saloon form ahead of the mainstream A3's reveal at September's Frankfurt motor show.

The S3, which is set to get more power and a significant technology upgrade, will be part of an eleven-strong next-generation A3 model line-up due before 2022.

Spotted previously in five-door hatchback form, using the current car's MFA platform, the A3 will also have four-door saloon and five-door liftback variants. The latter is expected to take the Sportback name from the five-door hatchback, while that variant will be simply badged A3, as the three-door A3 was discontinued back in 2017.

Regular and S3-badged convertible models will complete the line-up, although, as is currently the case, there will be no RS3 drop-top.

The other variants will also gain S3 and RS3-badged models, meaning eleven cars will make up the A3 range. With competition from the new BMW M135i and Mercedes-AMG A35 - both set to come in four-door forms - covering the 300-335bhp bracket, the S3 is expected to stay within these limits, with 325bhp mooted by sources.

New Audi A3 seen undisguised ahead of early 2020 launch

BMW 1 Series rival drops all camouflage and shows off an unusual design detail ahead of its Geneva motor show debut

Audi is building up to the unveiling of one of its biggest sellers, the 2020 A3, and prototypes have now dropped almost all of their disguise.

New spy shots of the car testing show the Ingolstadt brand is following the lead of the platform-sharing Mk8 Volkswagen Golf, which hit the headlines by shedding its camouflage wrap earlier this year.

Yo buddy I think we need a "4th Generation" in the title.

2020 Audi S3 caught in official wrap ahead of A3's Geneva reveal

Audi's new generation A3 will appear at March's Geneva motor show, with 300bhp+ S3 expected to launch at the same time

Audi is poised to reveal the new A3 in a few weeks time at the Geneva motor show, and it seems the S3 performance variant will also be shown alongside it.

Although not yet confirmed, Autocar understands that both variants will feature in an unveiling mirroring that of its rival, the BMW 1 Series, which was first shown in range-topping M130i form.

First drive: 2020 Audi S3 prototype

Audi's latest premium hot hatch sticks to its familiar strengths. But does it push things forward?

The conclusion, then, might be as predictable as the car itself. This is a mature hot hatch (as it always was), one not looking just for cheap thrills but also everyday usability and comfort. It might not excite its owners in the way more raucous rivals will, but it’s still very deserving of its place at the top table.

Next-gen Audi S3 Sportback to fight M135i and A35 with unchanged engine?

A fresh report out of Australia suggests the next-generation Audi S3 Sportback will feature a powertrain carried over directly from the outgoing model.

According to CarAdvice, one of a handful of international publications afforded some time behind the wheel of an S3 prototype, the production model will retain the current EA888 turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder engine, churning out an unchanged 228 kW.

Audi gives us a taste of the all-new Audi A3 hatchback

Audi’s A3 is set to enter its fourth generation in the near future, and Audi is giving us a taste of what to expect with these official pictures of a lightly camouflaged prototype.

Rather than cover up panels to conceal the styling, Audi has simply given the prototype a funky paint job, which means we get a very accurate idea of how the final product will look when it debuts at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.

Of course, there are no big surprises here, with the new A3 five-door bearing a strong resemblance to the new Q3 in its front and rear styling, while the side profile is very much a logical evolution of the current model. There's unlikely to be a three-door version this time around, given the falling demand for this body type, but a sedan or a fastback-style hatch could certainly be on the cards.

Expect some big strides in the cabin however, with recent spy pictures showing big and prominent screens much like those in the eight-generation Golf, and you can bet your bottom dollar that the VeeDub’s new ‘always connected’ electronics are there too.

2020 Audi S3: Details Emerge

Audi has released some details of its forthcoming A3/S3 compact hatchback.

In what’s fast becoming the norm, car makers are releasing their own spy shots to the public. These are often accompanied by some nice nuggets of info, giving everyone some decent insight into what’s to come. What you see here is the soon-to-be-launched 4th generation Audi A3 and S3. The car is very lightly disguised, hiding some of the finer styling cues, but the majority of the details are there, such as the headlight and tail lamp design.

Audi used the technical roads of the Azores rally to showcase its quattro all-wheel drive, ESC and steering setup. The quattro technology has formed the backbone of Audi’s products and the system is renowned for high levels of grip and stability. The quattro system has received some updates and is now capable of sending 100% of power to the rear axle. Also receiving an upgrade is the electronic stabilisation control (ESC), which cleverly brakes the two wheels on the inside of the bend for improved agility.
