Hennessey Performance unveils its H700 package that ‘extinguishes’ the Z06
The new Chevrolet Corvette ‘C8’ Stingray produces just under 500bhp as standard. Ask the BMW M3 Touring – and indeed any number of performance machinery – five hundred horsepower is plenty.
And yet. Hennessey Performance has revealed its ‘H700’ package for the mid-engined V8 ‘Vette, boosting the 6.2-litre’s power up to a heady 708bhp and 638lb ft, the latter another significant increase over the ‘standard’ car’s 465lb ft. This is also plenty of torque.
To liberate the additional oomph, Hennessey fits a high-flow supercharger, an air induction system with an air-to-water intercooler, and the option of a better cat-back exhaust. Naturally, all of this is managed via reprogrammed software that, as Hennessey says, outdoes even Chevy’s own Z06 ‘Vette (670bhp/460lb ft).
“The stock C8 Corvette Stingray is an extraordinary sports car, yet Chevrolet left some V8 performance on the table,” boss John Hennessey said. “Our exciting ‘H700’ supercharger package integrates seamlessly with the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and our exhaust upgrade sounds much more aggressive than stock.”

The new Hennessey Supercharged H700 Corvette C8 Stingray, fitted with a muscular blower, vaults the standard mid-engined Stingray coupe to exotic car power and torque levels that surpass even the revered 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
The eighth-generation Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray coupe is shipped with a mid-mounted LT2 6.2-liter V8 engine. Naturally aspirated in stock form, it delivers 490 bhp and 465 lb-ft of torque. However, to unleash the untapped potential of the American small-block V8, Hennessey's Texas-based engineering team fits a high-flow centrifugal supercharger, an air induction system with an air-to-water intercooler, and an optional enhanced cat-back exhaust.
Completed with updated high-performance engine software, the 'H700' boasts an explosive 708 bhp and 638 lb-ft - a 44 percent increase in horsepower and a 37 percent increase in torque over the factory rating. In terms of power output, the supercharged H700 Corvette C8 Stingray even outshines Chevrolet's flagship C8 Z06 whose naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 flat-plane crank V8 engine produces 670 bhp and 460 lb-ft.

The 19- and 20-inch alloy wheels are offered with a Brushed Aluminum, Satin Black, or Graphite finish, while the striking vinyl Hennessey Heritage Livery is offered in Blue, White, Black, Silver, or Red. A power-only package, with just the supercharger upgrade and warranty, is offered for MSRP $34,950. All packages feature 'Hennessey' and 'H700' badging and a serial numbered plaque.

Corvette Production Halted Due to Parts Shortage
GM says the pause at its Bowling Green plant isn't semiconductor chip-related.
Production of the Chevrolet Corvette at General Motors’ Bowling Green, Kentucky plant has been halted this week because of a temporary parts shortage. A GM spokesperson tells us that production is set to resume on Monday, February 27th.
The plant employs 1,385 people, and it builds the Corvette Stingray as well as the Corvette Z06. A GM representative would not confirm exactly what part was causing the holdup, but they did tell Automotive News it “is not semiconductor chip-related.”
“Our supply chain, manufacturing, and engineering teams are working closely with our supply base to mitigate any further impact on production to meet the strong demand for our products,” Trevor Thompkins, a spokesperson for GM, told Jalopnik in a statement. He added that only the Corvette Stingray and Corvette Z06 are being impacted. No other GM products are facing any sort of production halt at the moment.

Sure the mid-engine Corvette is a hot performance vehicle, but it's not going to sell for big bucks. Not when the market is finally cooling off.
People hoping to make a quick buck off some of the hottest cars released in the last year appear to be facing the bitter reality that the market may be cooling off. Vehicles that could once be sold for considerably nice profits, aren’t selling at all, because the insanely high reserves sellers are requesting, are simply never met. The most recent buy and flip fails happened to two C8 Corvette Z06s sold on two different auction sites. Of course, both failed to meet their reserve prices.
First spotted by Corvetteblogger, the first Z06 was listed on Bring a Trailer, a site that’s blown up through the pandemic and provided the car world with both good and bad examples of how wild the market has been. A 70th Anniversary C8 Z06 Convertible listed, was probably the more egregious of the two, listed by Loehmann Blasius Chevrolet, a dealership in Waterbury, CT. That information was confirmed in the auction comments before the auction ended.

The new ‘Vette, which matches a roaring 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine with an electric motor, is also the first ever to receive four-wheel-drive and is the fastest-accelerating yet.
Named the Corvette E-Ray, the long-awaited hybrid supercar was revealed back in January this year. Its appearance in New York this month marks 70 years since the original Corvette took to the stage for its debut at the Motorama exhibition, which was held in the city in 1953.
It has been conceived “to be the Corvette owners can arrive in anywhere, no matter the season”, highlighting the increased traction of a driven front axle and the option of a removable roof.
