New Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport previewed ahead of official debut

Ahead of its official global debut, Chevrolet has previewed the upcoming new Corvette Grand Sport.

Scheduled to make its official global debut on 26 March 2026, Chevrolet has previewed the new Corvette Grand Sport at the 2026 12 Hours of Sebring race. Although details surrounding the new model remain thin, the US automaker has confirmed the C8-generation Corvette Grand Sport will employ GM’s “next-generation” V8 technology, with reports suggesting the powertrain will come in the shape of the brand’s new LS6 small-block unit. The V8 is said to have a capacity of 6.7 litres and go without forced induction. The powertrain will reportedly also feature a new direct and port injection system.

While Chevrolet has yet to reveal how much power the engine produces, according to reports, the naturally aspirated mill could produce around 410 kW. If the latter is proven true, in terms of power output, the Grand Sport will slot in between the Stingray and Z06 in the company’s Corvette lineup.

Following a preview at the 2026 12 Hours of Sebring race, Chevrolet has officially unleashed the new Corvette Grand Sport.

Employing Chevrolet’s “next-generation” V8 powertrain, the new Corvette Grand Sport has made its official global debut. First previewed at the 2026 12 Hours of Sebring race, the C8-generation Corvette Grand Sport’s (LS6) 6.7-litre naturally aspirated powertrain produces 393 kW and 705 N.m of torque, exclusively delivered to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. As a reminder, the Corvette Stingray, which we sampled for a first drive in 2025, is equipped with a 6.2-litre atmospheric V8 producing 369 kW and 628 N.m.

The new V8 has a compression ratio of 13.0:1, and a bore and stroke of 103.25 and 100 mm, respectively. The maximum engine speed is 6 600 r/min. Stopping power is provided by 370 mm fore and 380 mm aft eBoost-assisted brake discs – the former and latter sited behind 20- an 21-inch alloy wheels, respectively. The braking setup features Brembo six- and four-piston monobloc callipers, front and rear. Carbon-ceramic brakes are available as an option.

Our next-generation LS6 engine pushes 409 cubic inches of jackhammer fury through the tailpipes,” said Mike Kociba, Assistant Chief Engineer, Next Generation V8. “Combining large displacement, modern technology, and proven small-block V8 heritage will deliver a bold new chapter in performance.”
