REVIEW: MG HS offers strong value and decent drive, but driver aids frustrate
VERDICT
The MG HS is a pleasant surprise. It looks sharp, drives with a degree of polish that's often missing from rivals at this price point, and offers plenty of comfort and equipment for the money. If MG could tone down the overzealous driver assistance systems and simplify some of the infotainment functions, it would be a far easier car to recommend.
The 1.5-litre turbo models are priced between R499,900 and R534,900, while the 2.0T variants cost from R629,900 to R665,900. It's not quite in the 'bargain bin' but given that the HS is similar in size to a Volkswagen Tiguan and Kia Sportage, that does seem like fair value in our book, and given the features on offer.
