2021 Range Rover

Updated 2023 Range Rover goes hybrid-only

Plug-in hybrid models gain more powerful electric motor, while V8 gains 48V mild-hybrid asisstance

The Range Rover will be available with only hybrid powertrains from the 2024 model year, which also brings upgraded plug-in hybrids and a new V8 option.

A new 215bhp electric motor boosts the 434bhp P440e to 454bhp, while the 503bhp P510e has been uplifted to 542bhp. As such, the two PHEVs are now badged as the P460e and P550e, reflecting their outputs in PS.

Range Rover enhanced for 2024: perkier V8, fresh cabin tech and new bespoke service

The fifth-generation Range Rover, launched last year, is still as fresh and accomplished as they come, but that hasn’t stopped the British brand from announcing some enhancements for the 2024 model year.

The changes for 2024 include more powerful engines for the range-toppers as well as an enhanced infotainment system and a new SV Bespoke commissioning service that enables almost endless personalisation.

The MY24 Range Rover models are now available to order in South Africa, with prices starting at R3 092 600.

On the engine front, the BMW-sourced turbocharged V8 now features mild hybrid technology, while the Range Rover SV is now available with a more powerful version of the eight-cylinder engine, offering 452kW and 750Nm. The current P530 SV variant, for the record, produces 390kW and 750Nm.

Land Rover has also enhanced the plug-in hybrid variants with a new 160kW electric motor (up from 106kW) that pairs with the 3.0-litre six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine to produce 338kW in the P460e.

Project Khan Reveal Stunning Racing Green Fintail Range Rover

Range Rover aftermarket specialist, Project Kahn, has announced their latest project called the Racing Green Fintail which was produced to commemorate 20 years of their work on Range Rovers.

This project has been created to “embody the best of British engineering” and even though the changes are subtle they have used some inspiration from those that came before.

One of the most striking features is those three-spoke wheels which draw a little bit of inspiration from those on the 1995 Range Rover Princess Diana used to drive around, albeit with a lot more intricacy and a much larger diameter.

Then there’s the body kit, comprised of a single sweep front bumper valance, merging into the vented bumper extensions, followed by custom side skirts, plus a winged diffuser at the rear. Both the side skirts and the rear diffuser are meant to draw inspiration from yesterday’s ground effect racing machines, as well as modern fighter jets.

Orders to open for battery-electric Range Rover later this year

Land Rover's first electric car edges closer to launch; promises to embody "true Range Rover values"

Orders for the battery-electric Range Rover will open later this year ahead of the car going on sale by the end of 2024.

It will be the first electric Land Rover from JLR (the new official name for Jaguar Land Rover) and will be built at the Solihull production facility in the Midlands.

Like its donor car, the Range Rover EV will be based on the MLA platform, which supports both hybridised ICE and fully electric powertrains.

The Range Rover Electric will have the same performance as a V8 Rangie

First raft of details released of Range Rover’s big, shiny new fully-electric luxo-SUV

In news that’ll likely surprise, the incoming new Range Rover Electric is a Range Rover powered solely by electricity. And today we learn these electricities will give it performance equivalent to a 'flagship' Range Rover V8.

Welcome to the future of luxury SUVs, then: step right in, the water’s still… really very punchy, actually. For context, the current 'flagship' full-size Range Rover is the SV, and that boasts a mild-hybrid V8 powertrain to punch out 606bhp.

The SV also manages 0-62mph in 4.5s and a top speed of 162mph, numbers the new Range Rover Electric will try its hardest to trump. Because the new Range Rover Electric will, according to its makers, “continue to set the standard”.

At this early stage, Range Rover has only released this initial set of teaser images, the knowledge of its V8-baiting performance and the fact the first physical versions have been built. Indeed prototype testing is well under way, with engineers aiming for “the quietest and most refined Range Rover ever created”.

Electric Range Rover Teased With 800-Volt Architecture, Nearly 3-Foot Water Wading Capability

As the waiting list opens, Land Rover is beginning the prototype testing phase of its first fully electric vehicle

When Land Rover debuted the fifth-generation Range Rover back in 2021, the British automaker announced that a fully electric version of the new big body Range would be coming in 2024. Now, Land Rover has released the first teasers of the Range Rover Electric, opening up the waiting list for customers as the brand’s first EV enters its prototype testing phase.

In terms of styling differences, the teasers don’t show much. The grille features the same slotted design as the standard Range Rover, but most of it is actually a blocked-off panel. The wheel center caps say “EV” instead of having the Land Rover logo, and the fuel filler door on the rear fender is replaced by a slide-out panel that hides the charge port. It’s also likely to have tweaked bumper designs and other slight design tweaks, but otherwise it’ll look like the Range Rover we know and love.
