We’d normally urge you to wait until the car’s been driven, or even until prices have been announced, but with a car like the Range Rover that’s not likely to stop anyone from deciding to go ahead with getting one. Luxury purchases like this aren’t always rationally driven ones (there are better off-roaders out there, for instance, or cheaper seven-seaters – it’s the Range Rover’s fanciness and rarified image that set it apart), but as rational as a luxury car purchase can be, it seems at first sit like the Range Rover ticks all the right boxes.

There was a whole lot of design chat going on when the new, fifth-generation Range Rover was unveiled last week. We lost count of the times we heard the word ‘minimalism’ mentioned.

Still, you can’t please everyone can you? And so, Brit company Glohh has already unveiled some new lighting for the rear end. Quick work, folks.

We must warn you though, there’s a whole lot more design speak going on here.

“The concept light signature is designed to deliver a symmetrical impression of light by implementing a horizontal light strip across the entire length of the tailgate, creating a clear design structure and an unmistakable road presence,” says Glohh.

“With the introduction of a Mood Matrix System (MMS), a user-defined display that allows you to change the identity of the GF-1 rear light at will, customer’s will be given the choice of three light signatures, each revitalising the rear view of the Range Rover with a unique design depth reflecting the contemporary impression exhibited by the vehicle’s front.”

New Range Rover SV for SA in 2022

The new Land Rover Range Rover is due to arrive in South Africa in 2022 and a bespoke, ultra-luxurious Range Rover SV will also be on offer to local buyers. See what’s coming…

The new 5th-generation Range Rover was recently revealed and we anticipate its local arrival in the middle of 2022.

If the standard Range Rover just doesn’t feature enough luxury and personalisation for you, perhaps the Range Rover SV will satisfy your ultimate luxury needs!

Developed by Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) the simply-named Range Rover SV will be the first model to wear a ceramic SV roundel which will also be used on future products developed by SVO.

The Range Rover SV will be offered in either short- or long-wheelbase guise with 2 distinct design themes including SV Serenity or SV Intrepid. Customers will be able to not only choose from a wide selection of colours, including 14 colours from the SV Bespoke Premium Palette, but buyers can also create their very own colour via the SV Bespoke Match to Sample service.

The SV Serenity features Corinthian Bronze exterior accents as well as an optional Corinthian Bronze contrasting roof. Optional 23-inch Diamond Turned Dark Grey Gloss alloy wheels with Corinthian Bronze Satin inserts will also be offered. Specific interior details include duo-tone mosaic-pattern embroidery which differentiates the front and rear cabin. Customers can match the light semi-aniline Perlino rear seats with either Liberty Blue, Sequoia Green or Caraway near-aniline leather for the front seats.

As for the SV Intrepid, it’s identified with its Anthracite metal plated and Graphite Atlas exterior finish for a stealthy appearance. This look is enhanced with a Narvik Black Contrast Roof and 23-inch Dark Grey Satin alloy wheels with Narvik Black gloss inserts and optional red brake callipers. Specific interior details include Black Satin ceramic elements and a semi-aniline Ebony leather which can also be combined with near-aniline Rosewood front seats and semi-aniline Ebony rear seats for a duotone interior look.

In terms of engines, the Range Rover SV will be offered in petrol, diesel and hybrid guise. A powerful 390 kW /750 Nm 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine will do service under the bonnet as well as a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine with 257 kW and 700 Nm. A 375 kW Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) version will also be offered.

Land Rover’s bold new era has begun with the unveiling of the long-awaited fifth generation of its full-sized Range Rover. The flagship model has been completely redesigned, updated and upgraded in all respects and substantially electrified in line with the company’s radical plan to slash emissions across its line-up.

The new Range Rover is making its motor show debut in Los Angeles following the culmination of a five-year, seven million-hour testing programme and ahead of its market launch in spring of next year. The reinvented Porsche Cayenne rival will spearhead a top-to-bottom overhaul of Land Rover’s line-up, in which each model will be offered with a fully electric option by the end of the decade. The pure-electric version of the new Range Rover, which has been confirmed for launch in 2024, will be the brand’s first all-electric model.

I wonder why they're going to source a BMW V8 and not just use the existing JLR V8. I doubt it would be more reliable or significantly more economical
 
New Range Rover SV can be personalised in over 1.6 million ways

Following the reveal of the new-generation Range Rover in October, Land Rover has released more details about the SV flagship variant, which offers almost limitless scope for personalisation.

The new Range Rover SV will be available to order in South Africa from early 2022, and it will be the first vehicle from the company’s Special Vehicle Operations to use the simplified SV name and new ceramic roundel.

Land Rover says the Range Rover SV can be personalised through more than 1.6 million configurations.

If you have a bit of time this holiday, it might be worth playing around on the configurator to create your ultimate Range Rover.

The new SV model is set apart from the ‘ordinary’ Range Rovers by carefully crafted enhancements. These include a model-specific front bumper and five-bar grille design, while the lower air intake is decorated with five metal-plated blades, available in Atlas Silver or Anthracite trim.

Buyers can choose from 13 alloy wheel designs, including 23-inch forged Diamond Turned Dark Grey Gloss rims with 10 directional spokes and inner sections that can be finished in one of three colours.

Opting for the SV also brings 14 additional exterior colour options onto the menu, among them a range of vibrant gloss and satin finishes. Contrast roof colours can be chosen too, in either Narvik Black or Corinthian Bronze, depending on what other options are selected.

But if the new colour options are not distinctive enough for you, you can opt for the SV Bespoke Match to Sample paint service, which can replicate practically any colour that’s desired.
