Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (hereafter, Mitsubishi Motors) debuted its all-new Xforce compact SUV at the 2023 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show. The all-new model will be built at Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia (Bekasi, West Java) and will be first rolled out in Indonesia, with launches planned for other ASEAN countries such as Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

The all-new Mitsubishi Xforce is a five-passenger compact SUV that was developed with a focus on the way compact SUVs are used in the ASEAN region. Based on the concept "Best-suited buddy for an exciting life," the all-new model uplifts the owner's everyday life with its stylish yet robust, authentic SUV styling as well as comfort and practicality including a spacious cabin and versatile storage spaces well-balanced in a maneuverable, compact body size, and road handling that allows safe, secure ride in a variety of weather or road conditions.

"While ensuring the all-new Xforce meets the requirements for driving performance, ease of handling, a comfortable interior, wide-ranging user-friendliness, and everything else demanded of a compact SUV, we have put our heart and soul into the development to bring excitement to the everyday driving of our customers," said Takao Kato, president and chief executive officer, Mitsubishi Motors. "This compact SUV was developed to answer the needs of drivers in the ASEAN region and has gone through repeated tuning in the region's road environment. SA-bound Mitsubishi Xforce unveiled

Mitsubishi has unveiled the Xforce – its new small crossover that will be offered in South Africa – at the Indonesian Motor Show. Although it was expected that the newcomer would be aimed at the budget market, its spec is surprisingly luxurious.

Cars.co.za recently reported that the model, which will be produced at the Japanese marque’s Krama Yudha plant in Indonesia and shares its powertrain with the Xpander small MPV, has eye-catching styling, plenty of ground clearance, plus its dimensions are comparable with those of the Toyota Urban Cruiser!

And now that it’s officially revealed, we’re delighted to say the concept’s styling has not been diluted too much… Although it was developed with ASEAN markets in mind, the Xforce, which Takao Kato, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors said was designed to be a “best-suited buddy for an exciting life” (sic), will also be marketed in South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, including very own Republic.

Considering how sales of small crossovers have ballooned in SA, Mitsubishi’s newcomer looks to be the ideal complement to the Xpander in our market, where it will slot below (or perhaps replace) the ASX.

Mitsubishi Xforce debuts as Urban Cruiser rival with edgy looks, high-tech cabin

Armed with edgy new looks and a practical cabin, there’s a new compact SUV coming to town, and it goes by the name of Mitsubishi Xforce.

After revealing the exterior design earlier this month, Mitsubishi has now released more details about the new model, which looks set to compete with the Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser.

Measuring 4,390mm in length and 1,810mm in width, the Mitsubishi Xforce is slightly larger than those aforementioned rivals, as well as the Mitsubishi ASX, which it could partially replace in South Africa. The newcomer also boasts a class-leading ground clearance of 222mm.

The Mitsubishi Xforce is expected to go on sale in South Africa, however final launch timing and all other specifics have yet to be announced. The model is built in Indonesia and destined for markets such as South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, Mitsubishi says.

Despite being slightly bigger than the ASX, the Xforce actually has a smaller engine. The only unit Mitsubishi is mentioning for now is a normally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol that offers up a mere 77kW and 141Nm.

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport (2025) Price & Specs

The new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport – known as the Xforce in some markets – has touched down in South Africa. Here’s what this fresh-faced crossover will cost you…

The new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport crossover has officially arrived in South Africa, with the local line-up comprising 4 derivatives at launch.

Seemingly replacing the long-in-the-tooth ASX (which has been on the local market since way back in 2011), the new Outlander Sport will be imported from Indonesia. Interestingly, in that country and several others around the world, this model wears instead the “Xforce” badge.

In South Africa, however, it’s known as the Outlander Sport, with pricing starting at R429 990 and running through to R499 990. For comparison, the outgoing ASX had bookends of R409 990 and R494 995.

All derivatives in the Outlander Sport portfolio are powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine generating 77 kW and 141 Nm (and familiar from the SA-spec Xpander). A continuously variable transmission (CVT) ships standard (so, there’s no manual available), with drive directed exclusively to the front axle. Mitsubishi Motors SA claims a 0-100 kph time of 13.6 seconds and a maximum speed of 175 kph.

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport compact SUV arrives in South Africa, but is it priced to sell?

Mitsubishi’s long-awaited new compact SUV challenger has finally arrived: meet the Outlander Sport.

Badged as the XForce in many overseas markets since its debut in 2023, the 4,390mm-long Outlander Sport is larger than the ASX which it inevitably replaces, while also casting a slightly larger footprint than vehicles it will likely rival, such as the Toyota Urban Cruiser, Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and Kia Seltos.

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has positioned the Outlander Sport at the upper end of the segment, kicking things off at R429,900.

All Outlander Sport models are powered by a normally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 77kW and 141Nm, paired with a CVT (continuously variable) transmission as standard. The vehicle’s ground clearance is a class-leading 222mm.
