2024 Volvo EX30

That's what happens when ergonomics are totally excluded from the interior design layout & man-machine interface functionality - you get what is essentially an iPad with a vehicular mobility shell wrapped around it - this piece of Chinese excrement should be sold in the white goods section of discount home appliance stores - next to the washing machines & fridges manufactured in some backwater Eastern Bloc country... ;)

The new Volvo EX30 Cross Country is a small, off-road electric SUV

Volvo puts some walking boots onto its city e-SUV. Time to get muddy

Volvo has put walking boots and a storm jacket onto its EX30 electric SUV to continue a long, fine tradition of off-road Swedish motors that like to get muddy. This is the new EX30 Cross Country, which is a… city car able to have a splash in some puddles.

Deep puddles, because the EX30’s ride height has been raised versus the standard, TopGear.com-award-winning regular EX30. Nothing regular about this Cross Country’s pace, mind.

Because it’s the ‘Ultra’ trim, which means a twin-motor, 422bhp all-wheel-drive powertrain able to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.7s. Those puddles won’t stand a chance.

Naturally this Cross Country version comes with a host of external modifications to signal its intent: the obligatory front and rear skidplates and wheelarch extensions, the latter hosting special 18in wheels with the option of all-terrain tyres.

Rugged Volvo EX30 Cross Country unveiled in Sweden

Volvo has a long history of creating Cross Country versions of its vehicles, starting with the V70 in 1997. These models offer a bit more ground clearance and some extra rugged exteriors, making them suitable for light off-road adventures. Now, Volvo is bringing this tradition to the electric vehicle market with the EX30 Cross Country. This compact electric SUV debuted in Stockholm, Sweden, and aims to provide drivers with a blend of practicality, style, and off-road capability.

The EX30 itself is a compact SUV, similar in size to the Hyundai Kona Electric. It has already proven popular in Europe, only trailing the Tesla Model Y in sales last year. In the United States, the twin-motor all-wheel-drive version is currently the only available option, priced at €40,550. A less expensive, single-motor version is expected to be released in the spring, starting at €32,664. Pricing for the Cross Country version has not been officially announced, but it is anticipated to be around €43,300.

Both the standard EX30 and the Cross Country variant share the same powertrain. The twin-motor setup delivers 422 horsepower and 542 Nm of torque. This is ample power for both city driving and venturing off the beaten path. The EX30 Cross Country offers the choice of 19-inch wheels or special 18-inch wheels with off-road tires.

The rugged EV comes with a 64 kWh battery pack, which can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 26 minutes using a DC fast charger. The EPA estimates the standard EX30's range at 407 km, but the Cross Country's slightly increased ride height and knobby tires will reduce this figure.

Volvo EX30 Cross Country revealed with rugged new look, bespoke accessories

Volvo’s Cross Country badge has been around for 28 years, and until now it has been applied to estate models, giving them a more rugged and SUV-like appearance.

But now Volvo Cars is launching a Cross Country version of the EX30 compact electric vehicle.

Although the EX30 is already classified as a crossover vehicle, the CC treatment adds a few rugged touches to the mix, while simultaneously ushering in new adventure experience packages for customers.

Volvo Cars South Africa has yet to confirm South African availability of the new CC model, but given that the EX30 is currently the country’s top-selling electric vehicle, and the country’s love of the outdoors, we’d be highly surprised if it were not offered locally.
