20bn SAM missiles for SA

When some idiot tries to copy the Muslims and fly a plane into some building in SA, I will be happy that we have air defenses, then R20bn will be cheap.

be careful what you say. it's funny that whenever it's Muslim's that do this, their religion gets mentioned, but if it were Christians or Jewish people, they just say terrorists.

When the act is done what will the missiles help? USA took hours to realise the hijackers is terrorists, You think we will do better? Do we have a early warning system? Then they will prolly shoot down every plane or at least the wrong one so how will that help? The argument is totally flawed. We do not need the missiles we need public infrastructure, food and development

there we go

Why *would* "some idiot" try to fly a plane into some South African building?

Those guys who did that were fanatics, making a statement against America and the fact that America was spreading its commercialized value system, propaganda and fast-food chains into their country. They were making a statement against the west's imperialism. As far as I know, no South Africans are trying to shove South African society down the throats of other countries.

Also, America had air-defence sites. Did they help in 2001? I think not.

Yeah that's why they are also blowing up Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Russians, Filipinos, Thais.... I could go on and on

Why do people automatically assume that someone's motivation for one act is also their motivation for everything else they do?

The attacks on "Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Russians" are for different reasons: religion, jihad, territory, control of the government, support for the west, random terror, etc. Also, there are many players - not all the terrorist action in the Middle East is committed by the guys behind the WTC event.

South Africa is not a major player in the Middle East scenario. Even if we're completely undefended (i.e. don't have a SAM system in place) I still think there's insufficient motivation for a major terrorist attack on our country. Yeah, some small acts are committed (there have been a few, in Cape Town if my memory serves me) but nothing on the scale of aeroplanes and buildings.

Come on people, we need those sams to take out rogue AA guns.
We'll just nuke the fskers if they even think of going on an uncontrolled shooting spree again
