20meg VDSL ... syncs at 20 getting 10 ?

Thanks for all the feedback chaps - will test later and see if I can shed any further light on this.

Check and see that your Wifi AP or client is not stuck on the 802.11b protocol.
 
Support just told me it appeared there were 2 open sessions, with one having failed to close properly.

They did a session audit and terminated them both.

So with my basic understanding, 1 session and 1 ghost session, thus getting half of the max (20) with the session that was active.

Will reset router later as advised and hopefully it will be back to full speed.

Hopefully this is the root cause - anybody else had that before ?

Throughput is only affected if the account is Uncapped.
 
So AH have opened a fault with Telkom, nsomething is definitely capping my 20Mbps line - somewhere - to 10Mbps.

NNTP, which maxes my line out, hits 1.1MB/s. Normal for 20Mbps VDSL is double that.

Simple test really, and it's on all my ISP's: AH, Vox, WA, Axxess. All capped accounts fwiw.

Upload speed is unchanged at 1.8-2Mbps.

This is seriously crazy. Router is reporting a normal, solid 20/2 sync.

Let's see what happens, perhaps it is indeed MSAN level throttling.

If it's something across all of these ISPs it'll definitely be an issue isolated somewhere on the local hardware.
We'll let you know the minute we find anything :)

Make sure that you don't have multiple sessions open across the 3 ISPs. Close them all and log in with your primary Afrihost account only.

Stupid question: how would I do this if the router only establishes one session at a time (ie. Aren't the others closed by default?).
 
3 speedtests to SAIX, MTN and Vodacom CT this morning all showing the line running and hitting a ceiling of 10Mbps. The Plateau it hits makes it obvious.

This is half of 20Mbps VDSL and what I used to get.

NNTP maxing out at 1.1meg/s, consistent with a 10meg line.

So maybe I must request a downgrade to 10meg ADSL ... then request an upgrade to 20meg VDSL again and things will be back to normal. Crazy.

Dear all

Just popped home during lunch and .... it is back to full line speed.

Getting 18.6Mbps on all local speedtests (SAIX, Voda, MTN).

This is beyond weird.

Afriguy - if it stays like this then I guess we can cancel the fault log.

I'm scratching my head here.
