I bought the 21Mbps 3G stick. Did I waste my money or does a person actually get these speeds in Cape Town areas. I know it won't be 21Mbps, but something above 10Mbps would be nice.

My speed on Cell-C has never been much faster than 1mbps on average. They were very quick, a year ago, at the start but now it's slow down seriously. My 1 year contract is over and i have decided to go to 8ta but the speeds there might go down over time as well. The price for 10gig at R199 is the best me thinks... so of to 8ta i go... with my CellC 21stick...

You'll never get 21mbps. That's just the theoretical maximum. I'm Sandton, getting 8 or so mbps, that's just great! :)

Still, the fastest are 8ta and cell c on average! Mtn the slowest! Speaking from those monthly speedtest thing that we get

Indeed, O also bought that Dongle and I have reached about 10-11 mbps at times, some time lower but all in all I cant complain, just sometimes it drops well below, then I remove the dongle and re-connect.

Test first then rather try the bundles... My experience with 8ta is good and bad, more bad nowadays

It started off with excellent speed in 2010 but due to network overload speed and connection is dropping more frequent. 8ta is swithing the capacity towards calls and away from data as there is more money to be made and call competion and ICASA is more important than data.

So tired of having to take the dongle out and reconnect all the time. Stayed up to use the midnight portionof the bundle, and think I've dropped connection about 18 times. Max speed ever (just a single spike) was 3Mbs. Generally far worse than that.
Such a pity CellC didn't bother coming up with a deal to retain the pre-paid 12 month users, or I would never have switched to these clowns.

They all drop - I got both Cell C and 8ta (5GB @ 2999.00 and 10Gb @ 199.00) when they launched in Gauteng and within 6 months both dropped to a fraction of what they were :

Cell C started at 3mbps and within 5 months I was at 0.2mbps
8ta also started at 3mbps and now I'm sitting at between 0.5 and 0.7mbps
Vodacom was 0.00mbps so they installed a repeater for me. It's now the fastest at 1mbps

This is Northriding, Randburg - and these aren't a specific bad night. These are consistent averages checked every few nights over many months
