Does anyone here have any extra infornation about the WISP 24-7 Online?
Would just like to know how their services is, quality-wise and anything else interesting about them.

Here's their website by the way for those who dont know about them http://www.24-7online.co.za

R400 a month for 128kb uncapped connection....seems nice no? :D
Too bad they're not in my area yet....

Okay, i checked out their website and before i even found anything i flinched... badly!

So here are some rules for the folks at 24-7online and anyone else setting up a website, if you ever bother to read these forums:

1. Never _ever_ play sound on my computer unless you ask my permission first
2. It's all about me, me, me: the customer. I don't care about Hopling Technologies or that they're "a global leader in wireless technologies". What do you offer me?
3. Have fewer links. Some of your links are just plain stupid: "MAKE THIS YOUR HOMEPAGE". Are you kidding me?
4. Every time you add something, you take something away. Screen real estate. Interface clarity. Simplified testing. Shorter development time. Certainty. Agility. Managability. Familiarity. (quoted from www.37signals.com/svn)
5. Rule of thumb: Less is More

See "Microsoft designs the iPod Package" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUXnJraKM3k&search=microsoft ipod

A brilliant example of how to stuff things up.

No Bad Bad Bad

24-7online.co.za is wavestream with a new name. they are the SOB's that caused all the trouble with icasa going around to all the other decent wisp and asking them to move their hardware (decent = don't use amps) avoid at all costs !!!!!

their old ssid was eyemax

hissssss, spit, hurl

24-7Online

Actually this is not the old Wavestream its a 10 year old company been doing IT and wireless backhauls and have just branched out with there meshing system and providing net.

They have taken over the wavestream staff and clients but are making complete infrastructure changes and installing there meshing system. I have been on there 64k uncapped package in protea valley for 2 months now and have not had any trouble works for me!:D

Had a chat with the guys at 24-7Online

The say that there system has no need for amping and that all there equipment is icasa type approved and that they are changing all the old equipment over the next few months. But being Cape town based they are only starting in JHB by the end of this month.

Sounds good to me plus i have had a wonderful time with my connection it works with a vpn connection on my desktop so kewl i connect and just leave it and no disconnection. But if i want to disconnect just right click and disconnect easy a great.

So i say and my opinion is so far Thumbs Up to 24-7Online:D

Do they have a coverage map? I live in Brackenfell and want a wireless internet connection at home.

Piesang you should have some luck with a few providers for the Brackenfell area if you don't get any joy from 24-7 online (Your loaction in your profile shows Parow btw). The ones I can think of is Megaserve/Netcontacts, whom I used before, Uninet, Wireless Onilne & ECCSystems, whom I'm currently using.

Cheers and good luck

Thanks. Yes, my location shows Parow, that is where I use my current Internet Connection provided by Wireless Online. Thats the office. I live in Brackenfell. But it looks like I'm going to stick with Wireless Online for service in Brackenfell as well.

Thanks anyway

These guys bought over the old wavestream but they using hopling equipment and have the mesh running quite far and well.

I now been on some time and am getting about 96k cir out of there 128k contended package for R399 p/m uncapped.

Personally dont care who they were or bought if things carry on like this im happy downloaded 60 gig so far in movies etc.

I think the price is right and so far service has been uninterrupted.:D :D :D

Hi Clint and welcome to the Forum,

What is the SSIDs you guys use and where is your high sites located?

Thnx

Only problem I have is the fact that they state on their website that installation is from R599. I got my quotation and according to it my installation cost is R3420. I'm not willing to pay that amount for a wireless installation.

Wisps amping their signal should be boikotted!
www.uninet.co.za can you prove to us you are not amping your signal??

Bulldust I distinctly remember speaking to mr.Armstrong we he uttered the following hubris to me:
"...Icasa regularly measures our power levels." You Wispies should simply shut down, you are wrecking our spectrum.
If we find an omni blast the thing with fake SSID's
