240GT vs 9600GT

Grr, I'm sure the consensus around here a while back used to be that 8800GT = 9800GT = GTS250? Been so long since I sold an Nvidia product... ATI FTW. Anyhoo.

I want t know about the audio thing.

I got a card the 9800 GT, with out the 6-pin thing.. (I know that they said more power = more performance, but on the box it's HIGHLIGHTED.. sounds like they were really proud.. but anyway.. )

On the 9800GT has the 2pin for the HDMI audio thing..

I just want to ask, IF I'm NOT using HDMI, can I still add that in and get EXTRA audio?

(And what does it actually do anyway? Give better sound?)

The GTS250 is the new 9800GT.

When you mean "new" are there things added into the 250GTS? Like extra things?

And does anyone know why they "renamed" everything? Why can't they jut keep it at 98 or 88 etc..

lol, ATi is the future for now. 58XX Series that uses less power than the previous 48XX Series.

AFAIK nVidia just made a different loop around to incorporate audio through HDMI/DVI on the old 9 series and their predecessors. Not sure how it was setup to be honest but it should just provide audio with video over HDMI and nothing else.

OK.. wait... so the 9800GT (Without the power cable) has what shaders? (And what is this shaders thing anyway? I thought it was only like shader 3/ shader 4... )
