So this morning a Telkom technician arrived to install my an ADSL and landline connection in my apartment (turns out all it required was opening a cover on the wall and connecting the ports into whatever was inside), but to my infinite sadness I arrived home this evening to discover the following two symptoms:
1: We can receive phonecalls but not dial out (phoneline just beeps)
2: The router (a D-Link DSL 2750U) has a little 'i' icon (for Internet I take it) that's flashing intermittently between green and red. The router connects via wifi, but any attempt to access a website reports that there's no internet connection.
Anybody familiar with these symptoms? My wife phoned Telkom earlier today and they explained that because it's a new connection it will apparently take 24 hours for the phone number to be activated to dial out, so is this correct and could it be affecting my ADSL connection too?
I've re-configured my router a couple times and confirmed that my data account is active (through WebAfrica), but I can't help wondering if I've made some basic mistake here ... any thoughts?
