Would have been nice if we could choose our own "smartphone" bundle, or Vodacom revamp their smart packages. I think the people who design these deals/packages for Voda, must all be dinosaurs. :p

At the moment Vodacom only offers the smart 120 & 500 packages.

I want more data & less minutes!

So you can use skype instead of using our voice network! NEVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Order of bundle usage on Mofaya

Last month I bought a ad-hoc 3GB bundle which expires at the end of this month. I then also have the 2GB + 2GB bundle included in the package. Of this the normal/daytime portion expires at the end of next month, and the nightowl portion which expires at the end of this month.

Question is, if I use it during the daytime, from which bundle is the usage subtracted?

The Vodacom/MyAccount/Data balances shows that it is taken off the 2GB bundle. Logic tells me that it should be taken off the bundle which expires first!

Can anyone shed any light on this?

OK, I did some research - read the Terms & Conditions - what's that about the OOB shark?
The usage is indeed taken off the 2GB bundle. For the Night Owl this doesn't make much difference as they both expire at the end of this month. For the daytime usage this is not so nice as I am using bundle data (first) which only expires at the end of next month. So unless I completely use my 2GB I won't start using the carry over bundle.
This means that if I don't want to loose bundles, I have to completely use my 2GB, as well as all the carry-over leaving me with no carry over at all.

Moral of the story? Do NOT buy extra bundles on Mofaya.

Software PLEEEEZE

Hi guys

I have the 2 + 2 Gig data bundle. The software sucks. It does not allow me to cap my usage. It only shows my daily usage. Everything is lowlighted. The balance enquiry is 24 hours outdated.

Cell C is immediately and capped. WTF? Are there any DECENT software available or does Vodacom make all their money with people exceeding their monthly cap?

Also how the hell are they going to distinguish between the normal 2 gig and the midnight 2 gig?

Yip, the software does suck. The connection manager messes with the local LAN/Wireless connection as well.

The software sets up a dialup by the name of Vodafone Mobile or similar. Unless I'm mistaken one can use one of the public domain bandwidth monitors to just dial that dialup.

The stats being outdated/old is very true. Interestingly enough their system does pick up the Night Owl in realtime - or so it seems anyway. This leads me to believe that Vodacom is not quite honest about (not) being able to cap one after a given volume.

I'm sooo tired of people who took out the promo with game. They didn't even bother telling them that when you start up it's pro rata, how to check the balance or that you're charged R1.20 out of bundle! When we make mistakes in Vodacom stores toys get thrown all over the place, but the people who came in with R1000+ accounts didn't even try to fight it out with game. I've got no sympathy for people who took this deal through game.

Thank you, chrissy.

Would love to get my next Vodacom upgrade from you & put you to the test. :D

Don't get me wrong, I'm not sales consultant of the year. Our store had only one 'hick up'. But why on earth take a data contract with game, and they didn't even get vouchers! It surprised me that they didn't go back to game with the complaint.

I fully agree with you. Game is obviously getting commission on the sale, so why not go back to where you bought it from? Just too convenient to waltz into a Vodacom shop.

I still blame Vodacom. They need to put something in place to insure that people do not go OOB unknowingly.

If 8ta can do it surly a big company like Vodacom can also.

But the feeling I get is that Vodacom wants to have the most expensive contracts in South Africa, they want to alienate their biggest subscriber base (prepaid), they want their customers to fall in the OOB trap.

I honestly don't understand what's going on at Vodacom anymore, but if I can see how to fix their image and competitiveness in the South African mobile market, why can't the clever people at Vodacom HQ not see this??

Because they are very greedy, SOB's, who have forgotten the value of Word Of Mouth, and that a customer who has been "screwed" by them has a very long memory, short term gain, long term pain, I always say ...

The repercussions of reckless OOB allowances on Vodacom's behalf is still relevant...
