2gig or 3 gig recommend?

100 gigs local I assume?

Yes local. Which is IMHO better than a few extra international gigs that u may be able to squeeze out of a telkom account before being arbitrarily hard-capped.

But whatever. People dont ever seem to listen...

lol you guys are really silly, if you were truely against Telkom, you wouldn't have ADSL in the first place! cought contradictions cough.

btw, 10GB now :D

LOL, how did i know that you would be the first to respond to this pat :-)

Well some people need adsl in order to run their businesses and such, and for most others it is preferable to dialup, just about.

Not everyone is truly against telkom, which is the root of the problem.

AS above, wow a whole 8 gigs! And that to ensure that telkom maintain the strangle-hold over telecommunications in this country and continue to deliver high prices and poor service . Great.

Do not go with telkominternet is my advice. IS may have its issues but i did 100 gigs last month on a 192k line with an IS account for which i paid 210 bucks.

You guys out there do the maths and see which deal is better,
unfortunately local only access doesnt do much for me - I need intl.

what do u need it for if i may ask and is it really worth the hassle of never knowing when u will be capped and having to squeeze every extra meg possbile out of ur account b4 u are, and still be supporting the evil that is telkom?

Work, Email, MSN, Gmail, Gaming, Downloading, Skype, FTP, Browsing, Updates, i.e. everything..

hmmm, fair enough i guess. Having only local is a real mission but sacrifices must be made...

Same. Though IS does have a nice news server I make do with a couple easynews accounts. Pity we have to make these sort of choices.

I am happy for u. You will always be pro-telkom no matter what and i am always gonna be anti. At least newbies to the forum will be assured to get both perspectives on the situation :-)

just because i feel there's nothing wrong with the 24 month contract (if you stick with it for the full period) and that i advise people who want SAIX backbone to go with TelkomInternet ISP because it is not capped at 2/3GB, unlike other SAIX-backbone ISP's that are hardcappped, does not mean that i am ''pro-Telkom''.

it's called getting the best deal possible, to put it simply. if you don't believe in the best value for money, then i guess you should go live on Mars or continue supporting ****ty IS backbone and STFU.

kthxbaai!

awwww, and just when i thought we were starting to get along you go and throw your toys out the cot like this....

You, like most south africans are short-sighted. What might be the best deal right this very second( eg telkom for some people) is often not the best thing in the long run. For example signing the 24 month contract has immediate benefits but is not the best in the long run.

Nor is supporting a monopoly that has and is still ruining the telecommunications industry as well as helping to keep the economy of this country lagging behind others in the rest of the world with second rate products and ridiculous pricing.

So dont tell me about value for money, cos telkom certainly isnt where that is at.
