So we bought a 2nd hand ipad....a 2 to be exact - guy advertised it as a 3....anyway

I have recovered it, but cant activate with old users details.

If i do a search for appleid, and use first name, surname and email address, apple cannot find the id...

However if i do a password reset request on that email address - it says email sent???

When u do a password reset - does it send you the appleid for that user?

if i log onto icloud with the users details - it say device not synced to account or something like that.

Ifix says, either the username or pw is incorrect

Help with this question
1 - activation hints (p*****@m*****.co.za) - are the asterix's the exact length of id or is it just an example?

You know you can to create your own AppleID, right? You don't have to use the previous owner's details.

What you are doing there is trying to hack into the guys Apple ID.

You should restore the iPad to factory settings, and when it's restored you should select "set up as new iPad", and not "restore from backup".

You should then register your own Apple ID.

Only if the device is on iOS 6 or older.

On iOS 7 the new user need the old owner to deactivate find my iphone and sign out of iCloud before the restore, after the restore it needs to be activated with the account present before the restore was done.

Lots of paperweight iPhones and iPads with iOS 7 starting to appear where people are buying before making sure old owner has deactivated.
