2TB Anytime data

Just got this deal today, so far its been really sweet. Getting anywhere from 50-100 Mbps down and 20 ish up. Its basically uncapped at this point with no FUP limit. I say if you got excellent LTE coverage in your area go for this deal. Only downside is that it does not support multi-sim :(.

I wish it could do multi sim

I am. Those got a FUP as it killed Telkom's LTE network back in the day. The article I linked is from 2016

It came in batches of 50. First 50 people per area got it at R599, then next 50 at R699, then last 50 at R799 and once the device is paid up it dropped to R531, R631, or R731.

I also had this deal @R 531 and cancelled recently as I finally got fibre last year. It was a sweet deal, but 300 GB is a little on the lower side and not great WFH @ 4/2Mbps :p

The reason Telkom still works and Rain doesn't is because one has a FUP and the other does not. :)
Yup I have one of these original packages and they used to be fine.

First time I was ever capped was hard lcok down month at 1tb then have been capped twice since when we hit 300/350gb this deal is 50 rand or so more than I pay now and I have a fully meshed home, fixed gigabit Lan connections with poynting antenna so it makes sense for me to get this can't deal with the throttling and 2tb is more than sufficient for my wife and I. No Fibre comes close esp when we hitting around 150mb speeds typically.

Will pop round to a store and enquire about this as it seems to be available in store now

What router and what Poynting antenna are you using? I am currently on the 220gb Telkom LTE package from AFrihost and contemplating getting this one. I am using the Huawei B618s-22d router and am not sure if the Poynting Xpol-6 would increase my speeds.

22d? Isn't this the rain version? You should be using 65d for Telkom. Unless you can now access the full telkom bands on this router. If you can access the lte advanced band with this router, that's the band you looking for

With antenna I typically get 100-150 down 12-20up and 10-20ms

This is what you typically get and its stable

The 65d is rare as hen's teeth to find, and so many people make the mistake of buying the 22d Rain one as it's everywhere and use it for Telkom.

I should actually get mine back from my friend and put it up for sale for those that does not have fibre yet and want glorious Telkom LTE-A

Do you want to sell the 65d version? I'm interested.

My speeds vary between 15-25 down and 10-15 up. I am using the 22d version and afaik it can not do 2300mhz band.

After consideration the mandated debit order makes it a pass for me. They've started trenching nearby so fibre is on it's way, until then I'll stick with Telkom's DSL, at least that way I'lll still have internet during periods of load shedding.

I got the Huawei B618s-22d with a Telkom LTE package from Afrihost back in the day. I think at the time Telkom was not yet using the 2300mhz band.

Colleagues is the 65d that much better? I get a solid 70mbps using the 22d router

Band 40 (2300Mhz) is usually less used than band 3 (1800Mhz).

To add to that, Telkom has 40Mhz spectrum in band 40 vs only 15Mhz in the others, so if you have a proper router that can utilize band 40 (like the 65d) then you could potentially get a lot better speeds :)

My area has gone down the drain (the tower got removed, so connecting far away), but the area right next to mine can get almost 200 Mbps on 1800 + 2300 :)

Edit: However, this is all pointless as MTN 5G clocks in at 400-600Mbps, and we now have OS fibre as well :p
