2TB Anytime data

Okay at my office that is like 200meter away from the tower I got like 40mbs.. with a B612.. Then I went home and tested my B618 with a normal xpol 6 made a huge difference. I did not try for better signal as it rains and roof is wet. i just put the antenna on the roof hooked showing one way. It does not show towards the Tower.

here is some Results.

Think Routing is trough durban....

I`ve been on the original 1TB deal since it launched in September 2020 (month-to-month) and it really has been a fantastic deal. I`ll be moving across to the 2TB deal now, because it`s R300 cheaper and twice the data :-D

Can`t add additional SIM`s on these deals.

I bought an Huawei B818-263 (directly from a Telkom store and not as part of the contract deal). Just make sure your router supports the 2300 MHz band (B40)

How do you plan to do this / managed it?
I'm in the same scenario, but fear that Telkom will not do the upgrade on the existing month to month (1tb)?

Anyone know if the B618-65d allows the user to lock their signal to a specific tower?

I have an issue now whereby my router (TP-link MR600) randomly connects to a weaker tower it seems.

Wow, thanks for the link, first time I've seen those other "unlimited" offers. The R599 does look interesting, but just for an R100 extra, I can get that 2TB with no speed cap hmm...

So I noticed in the news thread(Telkom 2TB) that someone had purchased this offer from a store. I actually sent someone into our local store and they claim they can do this offer in-store as well? I'm not sure what's going on, but I would rather prefer to just walk in and purchase this offer rather than struggle with the online method.

So has anyone had any luck with their local Telkom store?
I just come from the store and they offered me this R699 deal, and they also said that it is a they offer it over 24 months but that it is a month-to-month deal. I didn't take the deal as `I wanted to com do some research first.

If you have proper Telkom LTE signal at your house. With good speeds. I recommend go for it.

Yes, I have the old uncapped Home-LTE deal paying R731, and I have been out of contract for over 2 years now, did not have any problems unless on a Sunday when the network is loaded, but otherwise I've had average speeds of 25mbs.

based on the discussion around here I'm thinking of taking the deal.

I just want to check what other similar options are on offer from other service providers.

If you have that deal might as well stay with that deal? Those where awesome back in the day.
No, that deal has a 300 GB FUP, after which it drops to 4 Mbps for the next 50 GB and then 2Mbps the rest of the month. (Some lucky buggers seem not affected, but they're in the minority)

Not really value for money any more, as it's basically 400 GB for R731, whereas the 2 TB deal is R 699 for x5 the data.

Oh I thought you spoke about those uncapped lte deals telkom brought out years ago. Yea get it man.

I was a firm believer in Rain Mobile. Used them since they launched. Then the LTE became slower than a snail. Upgraded to the 5G. Was blistering fast. And I could see the service degrade almost on a weekly basis. It went from a average speed of 400mbp/s to 40mbp/s. And what honestly peed me off mostly was that they would throttle everything. Work vpn was so slow, Google play updates slow. Everything you did on the 5G package was shaped and restricted..

It's so lovely now opening youtube and it streams effortlessly on the highest setting.

I am. Those got a FUP as it killed Telkom's LTE network back in the day. The article I linked is from 2016

It came in batches of 50. First 50 people per area got it at R599, then next 50 at R699, then last 50 at R799 and once the device is paid up it dropped to R531, R631, or R731.

I also had this deal @R 531 and cancelled recently as I finally got fibre last year. It was a sweet deal, but 300 GB is a little on the lower side and not great WFH @ 4/2Mbps :p

The reason Telkom still works and Rain doesn't is because one has a FUP and the other does not. :)

I do hope few people sign up for this deal. Keep my package running fast.

Got pre-approved with a quote reference number on the 7th and i have done some follow up after the 24 hours and it looks like my application is no where to be found, now I'm just waiting to find out what will happen after the debit date we agreed on.
