45mbps would be fine for me, would take even 40mbps, main thing I can just continue as normal when loadshedding starts, which is not possible witg Rain.

Yeah, you should pretty much be getting that or even slightly higher.Been having loadshedding since 4pm, something broke and power just never come back, after all that my Telkom speed still looks good on my phone.

Do you have a mall nearby? That tower must be connected to a generator during load sheddingBeen having loadshedding since 4pm, something broke and power just never come back, after all that my Telkom speed still looks good on my phone.

ASUS AX1800 Dual Band Wifi 6 Gigabit router.
RT-AX1800 is a 2x2 dual-band Wi-Fi router that provides 80MHz bandwidth and 1024-QAM for dramatically faster wireless connections. With a total networking speed of about 1800Mbps — 574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 1201Mbps on the 5GHz band — RT-AX56U is 1.5X faster than 802.11ac 2x2 dual-band routers.
Thanks for the feedback. Pardon the ignoranceThe routers are irrelevant for wifi purposes but you need an LTE router atleast
I have meshed my house with Tplinks connected to my huewei b618
no problem at all, I do think it would work nicely for the mesh part thoughThanks for the feedback. Pardon the ignorance
Will do some speedtests tomorrow after getting the sim with the router I have.
I've stowed the B618 for now, but will give this a go when I have a chance to switch back to it. Telkom have confirmed that our tower only provides B1, B3 and B20. Sadly no B40 support.at crusader would you try this Huawei router tool and go to internet tool to check which network bands your Huawei B618 uses. Download here> View attachment 1350676

When you say "Telkom have confirmed", who or where is it you're contacting to get that sort of info.?I've stowed the B618 for now, but will give this a go when I have a chance to switch back to it. Telkom have confirmed that our tower only provides B1, B3 and B20. Sadly no B40 support.
My MR600 V2 arrived yesterday and I did some quick testing. I'm quite impressed with the amount of detailed info it provides out of the box. I struggled to get it to work on 4G+. Disabling roaming on the SIM seemed to have done the trick.
According to the admin interface it shows B3 and B20 as available from Telkom. I've left everything on auto and 4G preferred and it automatically switches to 4G+ using B3 + B20.
Speeds seem good, but the ZTE still has a magical upper hand with speeds mostly in the 55 -60 Mbps range. Haven't seen the MR600 hit 60 yet:
DL 56 Mbps, UL 7.09, 24 ms
DL 52.3 Mbps, UL 6.85, 25 ms
DL 52.9 Mbps, UL 7.27, 29 ms
DL 44.6 Mbps, UL 6.83, 22 ms
DL 45.4 Mbps, UL 7.59, 24 ms
DL 45.9 Mbps, UL 7.04, 30 ms
DL 49.1 Mbps, UL 6.32, 27 ms
DL 46.6 Mbps, UL 6.75, 25 ms
Afrihost logged a support ticket on my behalf and managed to get some info that way. When you say "Telkom have confirmed", who or where is it you're contacting to get that sort of info.?
I got nowhere via 10210 (agent tried to get me through to some other dept, twice, that apparently deals with tower faults, but a dead-end).
10213, suggested before in this thread I think, is for contracts and I'm on prepaid essentially.
Via Twitter they always ask for more personal info but don't bother with the tower ID nos. I send them to look into.
You're fortunately dealing through Afrihost, who are willing to do something on your behalf.Afrihost logged a support ticket on my behalf and managed to get some info that way.
Then obviously it has to do with the deal and not your reception. My speeds are not able to go over 50mbps on speedtest.net. Doesnt matter if i test with my B618 or B818. If I use my normal telkom mobile 40GB data contract speeds fly to over 120mbps.... Wonder whats going on.
Keen to let go of the 65d?Got me a Huawei B818.![]()
