Is it normal for a computer running Windows 7 and MSE to lose almost 3 GB of bandwidth in a period of 5 hours downloading automatic updates? The connection is iBurst. 2.8 GB of bandwidth has disappeared overnight with little internet surfing, no downloading of videos, etc. The explanation given by iBurst when asked what had happened to all the bandwidth was that it must have been automatic updates. It just seems a bit much though.

unless you've downloaded SP1 and all subsequent updates 3GB sounds excessive

It can't be that much. Maybe 1.5GB maximum, if even that much. I'd investigate further if I were you.

Unless you maybe have some other Microsoft stuff installed that you forgot
Visual studio, Office etc have service packs as well
Nearly everything these days want to auto update as well e.g Adobe's stuff, so make sure you view your app's settings and turn off those auto updates

Would only happen if you had Win 7 AND mse AND Office 2010 and they were all completely unpatched.
