No you blithering twat. I didn't say give them more guns. I said don't disarm them. Imagine a gang of gunmen robbing a bank and police show up with pepper spray. Yeah right.

Killing murderous criminals does not equate to killing people, because if it's not done, they kill more people. And honest people with guns, have licenced guns they keep for self defence, and don't use them for hijacking cars. I thought this was obvious.

Uh - address the root causes of crime, perhaps? Because I don't know about you, but when I see a jumpy cash in transit guard holding an assault rifle outside a bank, I don't exactly feel reassured.

The worst thing you can do in this country is disarm the police. It's like having a bank that has no money. What's the point!?!?

As useless as the SAPS may seem, they often take out ruthless armed thugs that don't give a fsck about innocent peoples lives. I'm glad when I hear news that the police have killed X amount of heavily armed thugs. These cops put their own lives at risk everyday, and by killing ruthless criminals that would otherwise end up killing defenseless citizens, they have saved many peoples lives.

Okay, fine. Disarm everyone else then disarm the police.

But killing 3 criminals doesn't seem terribly effective to me, and the side effects of increased violence (sheesh, guys, isn't SA violent enough as it is?) really isn't worth it. Especially when it means the chances of innocent people getting killed in the crossfire increases too.

"Shoot to kill" has to be one of the stupidest ideas the government ever came up with. And it's not like they were ever running out of stupid ideas in the first place...

+2000000000Grayston has no bloody clue what he is talking about. Look at any country that disarmed its cops....it does not work. Then you get Texas, everyone has a gun there and the crime is low...why? Because if you commit a crime you will probably get shot. Simple as that.

Ummm dude as much as I'd love to see the remnant of a criminals brains splattered across the wall..... The U.K has unarmed police and crime while a problem isn't as endemic as in SA.

I say keep the police in SA armed, disarm the public. Let them keep the right to bear arms but only on property they own.

The point is, crime escalated. Once law abiding and Police Officers are disarmed, crime increased.

Yes crime has increased but that is due to a whole load of factors and not because the police are unarmed. The major factor in my opinion is because they're too soft on their criminals.

Hahaha good come back what I meant is once in the judicial system the punishment is not severe enough. Thinking about it though if you are willing to let the police shoot criminals are you willing to let the legal system in SA bring back the death penalty? One and the same thing and a lot better publicised and would be a better advert to those thinking about crime.
