300Mbps Broadband

300Mbps?

Oh, however will I cope with...

...half of that :p

I'm still pining for a gigabit connection :(

The scariest thing its that its only 86% faster than the rest of the connections...
:wtf: Where does these speeds come from? And Lycan, where did you get that speed from, are you sitting in Nkandla bunker? :D

Nope, in my living-room in a little town in Sweden.

And the speed comes from my cable router that's connected to a coaxial jack in the wall :p

Lycan, with all of that, what makes you pine for more?

Oh, I really don't know. It's obviously not a priority or anything. I just mean that if my area and premises were hooked up to fibre (this is via cable) then I would have happily gone with that instead.

I am so jealous... I hate Telkom and the government!

My line tends to max out at about 17-20MB/s :3
:o:o:o That speed!!! FML...

I know :( Me too. Would've made deciding where to live in the end a lot easier for us but, after a lot of thought, Sweden won.
Hahahaha! You have the luxury to choose where you live in the world? Best choice I can make is to move to an area where there is 10mbps lines available or 20/40mbps, if I'm lucky and have enough for a house there... And that is within the city of my work... And in RSA...

Yeah, like games on Steam that I also have on discs, they actually download faster than if I install them from disc. It's wonderful :)

Had the luxury. And not really that much of a luxury. I married a foreigner--whatever we chose, one of us would've had to give up our home. In the end, I had less to lose, I was given my residency permit and the rest just became history.

I often miss certain things about South Africa, I miss my parents a lot and I miss Cape Town very much. But I know that if I ever had to move back, I would miss so many things about Europe too.

In a crazy way, I think I would've preferred if the option to emigrate never arose but, at the same time, I'm still happy where I am, and that's what's important to me.

Who knows what the future holds.

I mentioned this to my GF and she said I'd be in heaven. Not really, I'd be heaven if I could have consistent latency between myself and whatever server I am busy gaming on - damn, I'd be happy with a 4Mbps line that could just have a consistent ping.

EDIT: Since I am moving to the UK and will be staying with my buddy and his wife for a while, we decided to get a 100Mbps connection. :p

I warn you: when you start shrugging off the equivalent of multiple 4Mbps lines like the fraction of your total bandwidth that they are, you will never be able to go back to a 4Mbps line :)

I left ZA with a 4Mbps line. I moved in here to a 200Mbps line. My husband's parents have a 10Mbps line. I cringe at how slow that line feels now :o
