350z vs honda s2000 vs

The prices on the Top Gear links may give you a hint.

A hint to what exactly? You've all lost focus on the OP:

Hi guys, another which car should I get thread, was going for the 200sx but thought, what the hell might as well go all out and get something nice. So far in my "I want a fun car list: (350z, honda s2000) both costing in the region of R140 000 - R200 000. I am personally aiming between 100 000 - 150 000. Any suggestions to add to the list. Criteria: Fun to drive, Nice to look at.

An 2006 MX-5 falls into that catergory perfectly: http://durban.gumtree.co.za/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-R35K-Mr-W0QQAdIdZ299364284

Whereas the closest and cheapest S2000 needs a lot of attention: http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c...cars-R35K-2004-honda-s2000-W0QQAdIdZ295678499

Is a car a penis extension to you?

Nope - I buy cars to drive them... and the mx5 is a ****ty comparison to a S2000 or 350Z (and yes, I test drove it), its more of a comparison to the MG TF160 and MR2.

Lets see, I test drove MG TF160, Audi TT, MX5, Toyota MR2, Chrysler Crossfire , S2000 - and a couple of others, all around the same time... the MX5 drive is in no way comparable to the two the OP mentioned - if thats his level of 'fun'

How the hell does one drive a S2000 with a bearing knock and not fix it? Some people just don't deserve the air they breath...

I'm not saying the S2000 is a bad car, I just think MX-5 is as worthy if not more of being a choice.

So get urself one.. Im not saying anything bad, I'm just saying compared to 350Z and S2000 it is nowhere close to the thrills you can get in these cars. And ALL over the world, even the beloved Top Gear guys think it's a car for girls

I would love to, but being married and doing quite a bit around the house means I need something a little more practicle and wife-friendly unfortunately.

The OP couldn't afford either the 350Z or S2000 without taking some risk on the reliability, lets stay on topic here. Recommending him cars in his price bracket.

I'm getting close to that problem... fortunately - kids are still a few years off.

Lot of arguments here but it seems s2000 still comes out tops - all is balancing on a promotion -

Promotion - Could get an s2000 (Over 200k if need be)
No Promotion- mx5/mr2/Peug307/audiTT

Eish. No promotion - I would say stick with your original intention to get a 200SX/300ZX.

Yeah, the older Nissans are great cars, just make sure whoever you have bought them from looked after the cars properly as older turbo cars need a lot of TLC. Don't think the fancy steering system on the old 300ZX is cheap either.

200sx/300zx are awesome and can source a 200sx in decent condition but age and maintenance worry me. A 2005 vehicle is less likely to fail me on the side of a highway vs a 92-96

Both old cars, both weak up in JHB, especially the Honda.
But second hand, rather go for the Honda, they generally bullit prrof in terms of reliability.
