Where the hell do we buy these things? I bought an arcade unit. Put some saves and the dash update on the 256 memory unit, now the dash wont update any more, complaining about disk space.

ag fsk, no way im paying R1k for a 120 gig hdd, can easily pick up a terra for that much ffs.

Thats what we have been trying to tell you about the arcade. HDD seems quite mandatory. Not cheap anymore once you buy individual components now hey?
/runs to the armoury

Yep, cheap but no value...seriously, i will repeatedly dog MS for not including minimum an HDD in every console, geez....Uncharted 2 runs superbly without any installs and no load times, but I don't hold it against developers to use all reason hardware components to ensure the best gaming experience, sometimes it does lead to laziness, but a HDD is absolutely necessary especially in a console that claims to be MEDIA centric !

Aaaah well, sometimes u have to learn the hard way....

The responses from a certain crowd are very conspicuous in their absense.

Yep.

I learnt the hard way, Xbox360 Arcade might be cheap but once you get bored of single player games and you want to play online, download demos etc prepare to pay through your ass.

The retail price is more to do with the cost price and the need to make a profit. That goes for games and accessories.

As an example, why do you think Dualshock 3 controllers are R800-R900 @ retail level?

R480-R500 cost price ... so then you can work out the profit percentage then.

@saffakanera: Best price you going to get is about R1k on Bid or Buy for a 120GB HDD. I can't compete with that price (sell OEM 120s for R1400). It's about profit margins ... otherwise it isn't worth selling them :D

you could just get a PS3 and plug a standard SATA HDD in, of course thats after you've managed to fill up the standard 250gb one... just sayin...

He has a PS3 ... just wants a HDD solution for the 360 and your point is moot in that respect :p

Maybe look for a 20Gb/60GB?

My first Xbox came with a 64MB mem card  Wasn't fun deleting saved games so you could play a new game..

I bought an Arcade & sold it just to get another Xbox w/ 20gb hdd... Xbox without hdd is kinda sad - can't do too much!

And I read that the new update is going to kill all non-M$ memory cards... Dammmm yooo M$!!!

It's not so moot for all the other 1000's of readers lurking here that may get suckered into buying a Arcade!

Is it my fault that can't look beyond the initial cheap price of picking up an Arcade?

There is a 2nd hand market where you can pick up a good deal on HDDs compared to buying it new.

Also, mentioning a PS3 is a moot point as I stated he's already a PS3 owner and upgrading the HDD yourself doesn't help the situation of being HDD-less with the Xbox 360 Arcade he has the situation with presently ... understand now

Sheesh!
