This concerns me:
Pricing starts at R449 for a ‘data only’ 384 Kbps account
WTF is a data only account? i thought all internet traffic was data so why the mention of a data only account? Does this mean torrents and nzb's are out? Very odd statement to make or maybe i missing something?

Hmmm. Let's say Telkom increases the speed of 384, will the speed of the line (from SAINET) also increase? Not the package speed, just the line for use with other ISPs?

Data only probably means you have to supply the line (get it from Telkom yourself). This option will be useful for people who want a faster line for use with other ISPs

seriously--what do I have to do to sign up? and also who takes care of the details with TELKOM? How long is the downtime till I am on the sainet networks?

R349 p/m from Telecom buys you:
Phone Line rental
+ 30min free minutes per month
+ ADSL Line Rental (256kbps)
+ free DSL (wired or wireless) modem (insured by them and replaced by them at their cost)
+ unlimited, unshaped monthly data allowance
EDIT:
Oh yes, forgot to mention: MTC (Namibia's mobile network) offers:
HSDPA+ (7.2Mbps) usb modem + 5Gb monthly data allowance for N$345 p/m (= R345)

Yup, tooooo slow.
OK you pay pay 449 wihout a line and 499 with a 384 K line meaning they charge R50 for the ADSL line.
If you get directly from Telkom you pay R150 for 384K so assuming Sainet is charging cost for the line (what Telkom asks them for it) then Telkom makes 200% profit on a 384K line if you want to split your rental from your ISP cost.

It is actually not a good deal if you consider how much you can really download with say a 384 line... you're paying too much. Do the math...

Please explain how you can get about 90GB in a month including ADSL line rental for cheaper .. cause that sounds like a baseless comment to me ?
