IT IS POSSIBLE! logged in last nite to get an inv to a 25man guild run. did maloriak and atramedes no problems. other than dropping all graphics (which is fine, as I raid for pleasure, not pretty colours) and disabling some addons, which you should do anyway for raids. wish there was an addon that did that, but thats neither here nor there.

and oddly enough, several of my guildies in the EU were having massive lag issues and some d/c'd a few times. and I didnt. go figure

no lewtz for me tho :(

ps: anyone else had any luck with BH and tier drops? I now have t11 legs and hands from there. 1st time on tuesday nite past I did a BH run that wasnt a classrun, with a bear tank, and won the legs with a higher roll, and the very 1st time I did BH I won the hands in a classrun. though I died in the fire :D

2nd bh i got hands , 10 man guild run :P

i hardly do it now, just to lazy, i just to raids and hope for epox, did get nice cloak last night!!

384 is ok for most bosses, but i dont like 128k upload, my friend cant even play LOL and speak on ts3, then the ts3 breaks up :(

Ive said it before, but ts2/3 (obviously have both) and raiding 25mans on 384k = fail. guessing it takes more bandwith or something, cos Ive never had that problem with vent. go figure some more

Have you tried using mumble? Have had very little bandwidth issues with this program

its not about what i want to use, its about what the guild wants, cos they are paying for the servers. vent works very well though imo, provided everyone that uses it has normalized their volume range

some tips if you're raiding on 384 line

Put off your combatlog! You're not looking at it anyway so...settings -> Tick all the boxes to nothing
If you use recount type "/recount sync" to put off the lazy sync (It speaks between recount clients for more accurate numbers)

GFX settings on low (This may seem odd but somehow it helps probably because there's lew pewpews being sent over the network or something I have no Idea)

DBM / Bigwigs / VBM and all other boss mods are also bandwidth issues apparently as they sync between each other , for example on cho'gall they will need to check who has worship in order to report it to you. and any addon that reports information about other players.

As hereticangel said, The problem with 384k ADSL is that very limited 128k up speed. Apps like TS and vent will kill that 128k very fast.

as said, vent isnt an issue at all, ts is tho. I turned my combat log off well over a year ago, and the difference is noticeable, same goes for the syncing of recount. cant do anything about dbm tho.

question, anyone else using bigwigs/vbm? how do they compare to dbm?

and is anyone else irritated by the shared raid lockout? I know I am >.<

Anything less than 1meg is a killer on Multi-add fights like Cho'gal to be honest, Gave up on raiding with 512k when Cataclysm dropped

Some encounters are very buggy as well...

Valiona heroic, I DC'd every time she turned my direction to blow flames... Seems when running with some form of proxying... its exstra bad. Disabled my combat log, set recount lazy sync mode off, and used a WA account. Seemed a lot better then. But even some EU guys had DC's on that encounter. Brings memories back of the famous TOGC dc's in Beasts of Northrend heroic.

Tried to do a few encounters on heroic at a friends place the other night on a 384 , i literally had 2 raid without VBM + Recount and vent to stay connected :(

you should move to cape town. we have awesome (for SA anyway) interwebz here. thanks to mweb for having their HQ here....

Hell yes it's possible!
384k is more than enough, as long as you disable some of those sideband-addons.
Most guilty in the past was GearScore.
Healbot used to be way up there too.

Any addon that checks buffs and such statuses is also usually guilty of massive sideband spamming.

Teamspeak is massive fail for small connections. A correctly configured Ventrilo server is win though.
Hell, even Steam's voicechat is less of a hog on 384k!

It does help if you clean out some bandwidth hogs outside of WoW as well. That annoying-as-hell Adobe Updater is public enemy #1 for 384's.
Windows Update can be quite the buzzkill too.
Remember to EXIT Steam fully, incase it decides to randomly update something while raiding.
Skype traditionally isn't a problem, until someone decides to video-call you for no apparent reason... so turn that off too just to be safe.
Antivirus updaters can also be VERY problematic. Set your update settings to manual, so that you can tell it when to update. Daily should be fine, just remember to actually do it...

Thats about as much as I can remember.
I still maintain under 400ms latency for WoW on my 384k, but I also insist on using a tunneling service of some sort, if for nothing more than stability.
And in-case someone decides to chime in "OMG 400!!! Dude I get like xxx!!!" ---> I play US servers...

WoW thats A LOT of WORK to just be able to raid 25 on 384k!

I am lazy, and 4mbit just works out of the box. Lucky for me I get it as a benefit for free, as well as my ISP account is free. So I do understand there is a huge cost involved usually.

So I do feel sorry for you okes sitting on 384k, you really don't know how awesome the 4mbit experience is.

And if someone from sweden or an equivelent country will say the same about us with our 4mbit an them with their what ? 50 mbit ? :P
