384K uncapped account troubles

Holy Crap!!

You complainm about 7mbps! I wish I could have even half of that!!

DAMN!!!!!

Are you sure you live in SA???

Day before yesterday we were down to 7mbps until last night

After last nights threads that were getting quite wild and i am back to full speed.... for now

Grrrrrrrrr

I can't believe this!!!

It seems every god-dammed piece of machinery is conspiring against me here!

Now I just got logged out of the board!

Not only do I have these issues but I’ve also had the same kind of thing happen with my rapidshare account, if you move more than 25 gigs in 5 days you get "blackballed" as well!

Is anyone here using IDM (internet download manager)?

:(

ag sorry man...... thanks for putting me back to reality .... yeah i meant 7kpbs ...... but we can all dream can't we!!

Ooops i forgot to answer your question , i'm with openweb.

Geesh dude!! I was about to move in!!

What did your ISP say the problem was?

BTW how much data have you guys moved (the ones who were, as marjb puts it so politely "zapped")?

Funny Stuff guys

I dig this holier than thou crap. You guys get 1 meg lines and then buy a cheap “Uncapped” solution and proceed to rape it broken. When the ISP’s catch on to this and THROTTLE the line you whinge and moan. Funny stuff.
Some of the P2P guys out there know full well how to use their own modems to exploit this. I mean buying a 386k uncapped account and then downloading at 4 megs, that probably not what the ISP’s meant you to do. You want 4 meg, buy 4 meg. It’s because of idiots like this that these restrictions are implemented.
Yes, yes, I know bandwidth in SA is hideously expensive, but while we have no choice, would you rather purchase what you are really using or STEAL the extra bandwidth???
As to the definition of UNCAPPED, to me, that means you have no physical cap. Throttling is something completely different. Read the fine print okes, they are well within their rights to do this.

They did not actually say - but we do a LOT of dowloading and with the mail that was sent out yesterday it did not take much to figure that we had passed some invisible cap and had to be chastised for doing so -

As i said they got me going again - but i really had to sling some crap to get there.

I love how the small guys are blamed.

Lets all blame the Middle man!!! Theyre easiest to get hold of.

Lets all look at the origins of this forum. Telkom.

If they drop their prices to IS, IS will drop their prices to us.

Lets not lose sight of the real issue here. Telkom is getting away with this whilst people sue and flame the middleman.

hmmm as much as sactimoious F#$kers like you really annoy me !
Obviously you have the right to blah, blah..... whatever!

Although you might well have a point?

You do have a point!

You can be as techincal as you want, Uncapped is having no cap. And these accounts have no cap as far as I understand. They never cut you off.

hey - if i pay for 512 give me 512 and if i buy uncapped with that give me un capped with it.

saying we are abusing it is right - BUT THEN THAT IS WHY WE BUY THE UNCAPPED IS TO DOWNLOAD LOTS AND LOTS OF ALL AND NOTHING.

If i did not want to go nuts downloading i would by something silly like a 30gig cap

Although they do sell and market it as "384k uncapped", "512k uncapped", "1024k uncapped", so while they may be adhering to the uncapped part they're not adhering to the speed.

They cost more, or the same as Uncapped.

IS uncapped is cheap compared to SAIX accounts.

I have considered getting myself one again, and even with this limiting thing, I think i'm still going to look into it.

I'll go out on a limb here, I’ve really been caining the line. (that’s why I’d be keen to find out how much data other ppl have moved?)

Rapidshare did the same thing to me so perhaps the dudes (RS and IS/Openweb) are just protecting their network?

A 30GB SAIX Account costs R1700 some odd per month.

You see, I agree, that's why I got the 1 meg uncapped solution with the router directly from IS. I D/L and U/L over 100 Gigs every month.

There is always a catch. If it sound too good to be true, it probably is. As to "sactimoious", I assume you meant "sanctimonious", but that's neither here nor there. Bottom line, You get what you pay for.
