Wasn't talking about what you like, but rather what I prefer. But it (Samsung) does not have cheap 3D glasses and also no 2D to 3D upscaling which I like a lot?

Don't know where you read that, but in my experience Samsung's signal processing firmware is the best out there (scaling, de-interlacing and motion handling), you don't get to be #1 (by a long shot) by producing TVs with mediocre picture quality. You think the Sammy is better than the LG? I have read the Sammy software is terrible

The problem with the polarised 3d tv's is that if you look at is sideways all you see is blackness. So if you lie on the couch you cant see anything on the tv with the polarised glasses on, whereas the shutter glasses doesn't matter which way you sit. Tho if you wear them goggles for a long period of time you may have to lie down![]()
Personally I prefer the LG's with the polarised glasses, I will just sit up straight and watch tv.
I am going to be at the shop @ the crack of dawn.![]()
Basic DLNA streaming functionality is much of a muchness on both, but yes the high end LGs are bundled with Plex by default, which you must download yourself for Samsung SmartTV models. But this is a double edged sword, you're potentially not on the latest debugged version. Search Youtube and you will find performance complaints (e.g. LG Plex vs Apple TV2).The Sammy media streaming capabilities are less than the LG (IMO).
Honestly if you think LG's passive 3D is crystal clear, I can only assume your standards are set to low. This past weekend had a chance to check a LW4500 side by side with a PS51D550 plasma (full 1080p active 3D), and the difference in picture sharpness was unmistakable from 2-3m.still crystal clear 3D.

On special for just over 8 grand here ... http://www.fotodiscountworld.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/287_289_412/products_id/1770How much is the D550 Sammy?

And don't get me wrong, I think LG's passive 3D is very good, more than good enough for most, but describing it as 'crystal clear' is push the boundaries of truth a bit.

My 46D6000 streams 1080p perfectly from Win7 media player, FF & REW. Maybe upgrade your firmware. I also have 40C530 from last year which struggles a bit with 1080p (probably horsepower related), but up to 720p is fine (off USB).The Sammy has a very laggy menu, the sound "clicks" every now and again and fast forward/rewind works on some movies and not others. The LG is flawless.
For me, media steaming is top of the list.
Dammmit now what do I do???its not much more than the LG 42 3D

As I've mentioned previously, ask yourself how much 3D your going to do (long term). Sure first 3-6 months going to be using it all the time, checking out all possible sources, formats etc. But you will eventually run out content and the chances are the experience will no long be that fascinating. So wait the Sammy is plasma and they use heavy active glasses- cost a fortune. Nah think I'm gonna stay with the LG
