Equipment : Sony Vaio VGN-FW37GY, 64 bit Vista Ultimate; Vodacom 3 G Express Card. Vodacom Software which includes the driver - VMC 9.3.6 for 64 bit software.

Problem I experience is that the moment the computer software detects the 3G signal it switches the modem off. Restart all over again and switch the modem off. This cycle of events will continue indefinitely.

Should I manually connect to GPRS the modem works fine. Vodacom and Novatel including Sony have not been able to address this problem and solve it. Would appreciate any assistance please

Have you tried using it in a different computer?

HI cjw

in your comments you mention that the modem works fine, and then you mention that its a Vodacom problem. Please explain if the modem is at fault here if so do as Iam3G suggest.

Yes, the card with the same software is and has been working successfully on two machines with XP Professional and one machine with 32 bit Vista

Then theres something on the 64-bit machine thats disconnecting/switching off the device.

CJW 3G problem

Hi Iam3G,

Agree with the synopsis that the software on my machine could be the problem. I have searched for the same type of problems on the 3G forums presented in the UK where I located similar problems experienced by users over there. The solutions however address 32 bit machines and not 64 bit. In this instance the files in the registers are different and can not be changed as with a 32 bit machine.

Try disabling your whole startup from msconfig. Then reboot and see what happens.

Iam3G,
Thanks for the tip will let you know tomorrow
