3G on cellphones...

Hi guys,

Question,

Is 3G automatically enabled on cellphones that support it or do you have to enable it?

I ask because I seem to have it on my Nokia E71, I see the "3G" icon thingy.

But on my bosses phone, I don't, not on his Nokia E71 or the HTC he had before, it always connected via GPRS and that phone was also 3G capable.

It will vary according to the phone; on my Nokia 6110 I can select between GPRS/EDGE only, 3G only, or both.

Will vary i have the option to turn it off and on.

off most of the time as 3G eats battery life.
