Is it possible for a 3g MTN sim to just stop working after a year, it start asking if you want to work offsline and now the phone N96 can't read the sim at all.

I tried the sim in my Storm 2 and HTC touch but it stayed offline and the phones not reading the sim.
Tried another sim , Virgin in the N96 and it works fine.

Anyone else with this issue?

do you remove the sim card alot from the fone? Cause that seems to cause alot of damage to the sim. I have my 3g Sim since 3 yeears ago i think. and it working fine.

Same thing happened to me last year on my MTN 3G Sim but i did not remove the sim alot from my HTC Gene but some how when i did a sim swop they ended up giving me a 64k sim instead of the 128k 3G one

I'm on my 3rd virgin sim (so far so good). The previous two just died for no apparent reason. One minute they worked, the next minute, nothing at all. Both replaced free of charge.

MTN discovered the sim card was the issue, they did a sim swop and charged me R150 for the new 3G sim card.

Problem solved, but why do we have to fork out for a faulty sim card?
