Has anyone found a SP which knows anything about 3G Data packages? (The ones under 1G).

Nobody seems to know anything. Nashua, Vodashops…. I don’t really want to trek to VodaWorld.

It's probably a rhetorical question (asking WEB users, if they want to use the WEB  ), but:

Would you guys buy the data bundles on-line, if the service was available?

If you want to add a bundle to an existing contract with VodacomSP you can do it on Vodasurf or are these packages also available standalone?

I think you're jumping the gun a bit here :D

I cannot understand how Vodacom announce packages without providing advance information to their SPs. The new package bundles launched on Feb 1 has been a balls up. Two weeks on I have yet to speak to anyone who knows very much at all.

You're right, of course. I'm not trying to change the issue, merely thinking how we could have made it even easier for you than to have to go to a shop in the first place.

Having an on-line capability is no excuse for the outlets not knowing the product offerings, but at least will reduce forum member frustrations if they could select the correct product on a WEB site.

I've forwarded your comments to the people who look after the retail outlets.

Actually vodacom3g off the subject but close is that I would like to see more info regarding phones available on packages. Ie. I just got a second Talk 500 Contract but the phone specials are confusing and to top it no one can tell me when they will have stock of the phone I do want :(

Yes, I think buying the packages, cards etc online would be great. I have a friend that wants to get one but he has not had time to go to a shop yet. If he could have ordered online he would have the 3G card by now. Personally I hate shops and if I can order online and your offer a 24hour courier delivery service you stand a better chance than your competitors of getting my business.

Interesting, one of my biggest complaints about contracts has always been the "please fax us if you want something changed" I would love to be able to add sms/data bundles online without contacting Nashua (my provider) or Vodacom.

It makes no sense, I can spend R200 on calls without faxing them, but if I want to spend R200 on a data bundle they need it in writing.

Add a web page to do this, once I add something, send me a sms asking me to confirm, once I confirm its done. I have prooven that the number belongs to me and that I do want the package. ;)

Online purchasing would be great - combined with vodacom4me.

What I would love is the ability to buy a bundle of say 20MB for my contract, use it till it is finished, and then buy another bundle. I'm not often enough out of the office to justify a monthly based bundle, but when I need it, I would love an easy way to buy cheaper bandwidth and be able to use all of it without losing unused "property" at the end of the month.

PS: In my experience the Vodashops and supportdesk is excellent. Still I would prefer not to have a human being in the loop - lately the ability to understand Afrikaans (and even english) is deminishing daily!

Vodacom3g, to asnwer your point I will definitely buy online. I would probably follow what kaspass says above and top up as and when required.

Someone mentioned the VodacomSP site above, so i'm wondering now. I mistakenly stumbled onto https://www.vodacomsp.co.za/vspc/products/vodasurf.html , and logged in
and noticed the site looked -exactly- the same as the one the vodashop guys were using to load my bundles.

So am i missing something ? What's the diff between the vodacom4me and vodacomsp [and why aren't they integrated]. Or am i not suppose to be able to log onto the sp site? On the sp site i can 'activate' and 'deactivate' any of the value added services [i.e. any bundles]. I can even change my banking details [and what time of the month they should bill me] .

In short, doesn't it mean via the vodacomsp site i can change my 3G bundles [and any other extra service like itemised billing] without ever talking to a vodashop ? Or should i still phone them?

Or are we talking about a different service? Did i just miss the plot?

There is a difference between the Service Providers (VSP, Nashua, Autopage, etc.) and Vodacom, the Network Operator, who provides the network services the SP's on-sell to the end user.

Vodacom4me is Vodacom's site where you can get information on service offerings, etc. You'll also find links here to the retail channel (shops, SP's, etc.) from whom you must buy any desired products or services.

Vodasurf, is VSP's site where you can provision services and manage your account, IF you are a VSP client.

So Vodacom (vodacom4me) is the manufacturer and operator, while VSP (vodacomsp) is only one of a number of resellers.

If you are a VSP customer (diabolus, you're obviously one), you can change your 3G bundles on-line as well as auto-provision other services.

Remember you can only change once per month, for the next month.

Be carefull with Vodacomsp value added services activations - you can end up with double activations. Activation is no problem but migrations always have been. I end up paying the month on my old bundle plus pro rata on the new bundle although it is only effective at the start of the new month. I have also experiened after cancelling a bundel that somebody decides to activate it the next month again.
