3G usage 100 Gigs per month - Help?

We subscribe to vodacom 3G as a business solution, but can only top up 40 gigs in-bundle rate ... and currently utilise 100 Gigs on average each month!

Does anyone know when / if / how bigger bundles will come into play from Vodacom?
 
yip! not used to sell on data - purely for business use / connectivity. a few hundred users. Usage growing daily!
 
Ok, first things first.

No ADSL that you could use instead of 3G?
What Vodacom 3G product or contract are you using?

Off the top of my head, Broadband Advanced is what you'd really need if you have to use Vodacom 3G.
Other than that - you should be speaking to Vodacom Business perhaps?

I Would suggest talking to VodacomData, the VC Rep.



why would it be limited to 40GBs though...can't you get a second or third account/SIM and split it into 3 x 40GB (over 100GB) ?
 
hmmm,

have you looked at what PCs are the ''high'' users?
Have you scanned all the PCs with up-to-date software?
Also ask VC to provide a statement of your usage....
 
if you can afford that amount of 3g data, sure you can afford business adsl for like 2.6k a month :)
 
How much does your bill work out per month? Any particular reason why you choose 3G above ADSL?
 
Solution is used for mobility purposes - approx 300 + users to connect from home / while travelling in SA / 1 man offices where DSL is not supported .... and and and.

Spoken to Vodacom business .... they suggest a 2nd APN (and 3rd) as many as is needed. Problem = admin / additional lines required / new contracts etc.
Since we are on a private APN, we cannot subscribe to their advanced package which sets in & out of bundle rates at one price.

Problem with going to a 3rd party provider - pay premium rates & purchase new sims / data cards. It's still a do-able option though ... which will mean a shared virtual APN.

Vodacom just shug their shoulders! Take it or leave it! One day we will come out with bigger bundles .... just not today!

3G for ease of access anywhere / anytime / any place. Note - we subscribe to DSL / VPNS / Diginets for our offices, this is just a solution for staff for after hours or where DSL is not available, but mainly for users to work from home or while travelling.

Correct - we have an APN - Vodacom business suggest multiple APN's - multiple links .... dollar signs!
No one can give me an answer as to why we can only get 40Gig's - sometihng about Risk - selling on the bandwidth - blah blah.

Infrastructure is in place - 1 APN - just need bigger bundles!

In that case aren't there any solutions that cell C can offer you instead of vodacon....?
 
Let's be honest - CellC have only really gotten into the game recently. We did test them in the past - and were not getting the coverage we required.
However - it would be interesting to re-visit and see what coverage / availability we get from them now.

Ideally - 1 solution / easy to manage / not need to move users across APNs etc - but it's seems that is a perfect world?

Unfortunately this one aint a virus :)
We can access a portal which does give us the utilisation of each user - however, it's the sheer volume of users accessing mail / web portals / etc
 
Guys and Gals, I know it's hard to think straight when you need to do the maths on 100GB's worth of 3G data, but please stick to the topic.

I've cleaned up all the off topic banter.

Have you looked at users' personal usage? I.e. Facebook, Youtube, movie downloads?

At the company I work for it is still amazing to see the chancers pop up regularly...

Yes if they blocked Youtube (if not needed for work reasons) then there is a chance they could save a fair amount on GBs. Movie DLs, well those too should not be permitted on work internet.

FB - the last I heard does not use much but can be a great time waster.

Fisrtly thank you for using our service , let me find out if there are any advances regarding the bundles , and also if you can kindly provide with me with contact details.
