So I just moved and needed internet access until I get an ADSL line in.
I went to CellC and they told me the cheapest way to get 3GB once off would be R700ish o.0.
So I went to 8ta and bought the R149 special. My house has no coverage on the map but it works like a charm, getting above 2mbps - compared to the crappy MTN signal I get here.

So thanks 8ta, will definitely recommend you :D

p.s. the 8ta store design is nice too.

Hmmm, this is so nice and I so wish that there was a coverage in mafikeng.

Yeah,a pity they have almost no coverage in South Africa. That will seriously dent their business model. Further keep in mind, for Rand 700 on CellC, you are on Pay and Go not tied up in a contract! Plus your speed will be like 3x higher.

?

Unfortunately for me the 8ta tower is in the middle of nowhere, in fact the only place to get signal is hike deep in the bushes. Fukn morons

I am with 8ta and everywhere I go in the metros I have a great coverage!!!

The R150 special is prepaid. And I have coverage everywhere I go in Pretoria, and in quite a few places in the surrounding rural areas as well.

Don't take the coverage map as gospel. If you live sort of close to the pink area but aren't exactly under it, it's worth while to go and get the PREPAID R149 2GB+1GB deal and just see how it goes. Worst case scenario: You can't use the data at home, but if you have a laptop (and 3G modem) or other mobile device which takes a sim, you can use it in another location which IS covered and download to your hearts content (well, at least 'til the 3GB is kaput :) )

Where I live wasn't under the pink bits in their coverage map but lo and behold, I got some awesome speeds at home. So they may be selling themselves short on the coverage map a bit.

As someone mentioned, this is prepaid. When you buy it in the store they just give you 3xR50 airtime vouchers. You load them up and buy the bundle.

How long does the bundle last.

How long does the bundle last? I read this on 8ta site : "The Pre-paid Once-Off Internet 2GB + 1GB Midnight Surfer bundle expires at the end of the following calendar month from date of purchase."

Does this mean if I but it today (1 Sep) it will last until then end of October ?

They last for 60 days... At leas tit's better than a 30 day period.

I just finished my 2GB day bundle, and I'm noticing that I'm not capped, have done about 1GB more! When I check my balance, my night bundle isn't affected.

Hi
If You buy 2GIG + 1GIG today (1 September 2011), the unused data expires at the end of October 2011.
As abuusamah mentioned.
