In a nutshell,

I had my telkom line speed updated to 4 MBps ages ago, and last week finally switched from the MWEB 2 MBps premium uncapped, to the 4 MBps uncapped. and the connection drops every few minutes (it was fine at 2 MBps)

MWEB support say it is a telkom problem, telkom say they don't see any problem, but they have 'reset my line'

Link Rate 4096 Kbps 512 Kbps
Line Attenuation 33.5 dB 21.0 dB
Noise Margin 15.2 dB 13.0 dB

Any ideas / help would be appreciated.

Evening Newbie22, do you have any noise on your telephone line? (a crackling sound).

Have you tested with an alternate router?

Evening,

The line is clear, do you mean alternative router, or modem ?

I assume you mean modem - I don't have an extra one lying around. (I do have an extra router, but I doubt that helps in this situation)

Test with an alternate router, normally hardware or line that causes router disconnections.

Please also provide me your MWEB account details via private message.

btw my current modem / router combo is a netgear DGND3700v2, which shouldn't have trouble at 4 MBps...

Newbie22 please test with an alternate router, as this could be a possible cause.

We need to test in order to ensure it is not the hardware causing the problem

I also need the account details, in order for me to see the dropped connection from my side.

Have you tried a AH or WA free account? If the problem persists with one of these, then its a Telkom / hardware issue, but if not ......

Great idea .... AH = afrihost .... who are WA ? (I'm gonna guess Web Africa ?)

I have the same issues with Telkom and as soon as I get over 3.2Mbps the line is unstable. It depends on age and condition of line and distance from the Telkom main box in your area.
I have decided to go the mobile route.
Good luck I hope you get sorted.
